I agree. But what if the Caps add Kreider or Toffoli? Arms races are a breeding pool for overpaying. - jmatchett383
I have no real tangible evidence to support this, but I think regardless of who they add the Caps are on their way to being Tampa of last year. |

Wasn't Kreider injured over the weekend? |

Yohe just did a trade likelihood article. I had to laugh because most likely to go was Galchenyuk and their 1st rounder. They aren't off the table completely, but sounds like Pens would prefer to hold onto their top 4 prospects.
Sidenote on Legare, I think the Pens value him more than other teams who all passed on him in the 2nd last year, so I'd be most surprised if he went even though I think Addison and Pouliot are much better at this point. |

I don't think the Pens are going to sell high on a rental. |

One of those assets, sure, but not both for a rental. The Pens will add a wing, GMJR never comes away empty-handed. Doesn't need to be Hall. |

They did trade up to specifically get Légaré so I think they do value him quite a bit. |

I know this scenario is hypothetical, the Caps are against the cap. They have, like $700K availible, which if they traded at the deadline could take on a $1.8mm contract.
Considering a trading team can only retain 50% of the contract... Kreider and Toffoli both make significantly more than $3.6mm...
Besides, Caps are "weaker" defensively and that is where they would like to spend thier remaining cap space... |

Also from Yohe's article,
The untouchable core: Crosby, Malkin, Guentzel, Letang, Dumoulin, and new members Rust and Marino
Highly unlikely: Pettersson, McCann, Kahun, and the whole Blueger line. |

Agree, they're struggling to create offense and without Dumoulin aren't quite as sound defensively. Get Dump back, add a wing, and maybe a few more bodies (Kahun, Bjugstad) and it looks better. - Tojo.
We have said this a ton but before Dumo as a team we controlled SCF% at 54% and HDCF% at 56%. We have been break even since he got hurt. We went from an top team in quality control to average as all hell. Getting Jack the hell out of the top and back to the basement minutes will do us wonders. |

Did you hear about Rossi apparently floating around Domi to Pittsburgh rumors on some radio show today? Even a fan asked Yohe about it in the comment section of that article. |

I heard that. I wouldn't call it a rumor exactly...but by god Domi would be a perfect fit. Just imagine, we were about to trade Kessel for Domi one year earlier....but then we ended up with Galchenyuk instead. Yikes.
No idea why Montreal would trade Domi though. |

I referenced this a couple of weeks ago and I read from someone in the Athletic (can't remember who) as well as on a radio show on sirius xm that MTL is the process of deciding whether to rip things down a bit or stay put.
The untouchable names they listed were Price and Weber.
The names they mentioned to be rumored were Tatar and Drouin, and to a lesser degree Domi, but they didn't feel Domi was super likely. Obviously with MTL falling further out of contention they're probably getting closer to a decision on how to proceed. |

I've personally become a bit more adverse to spending that kind of cost on a rental. |

Frank Servalli just posted an article on TSN about Maple Leaf goalie targets. When he brought up DeSmith he said he has heard that Florida tried to get him early and they were turned away. I need to know everything now |

Would be totally typical of the Caps to trade for a position they don't need though. Sup, Shattenkirk. |
