If Giroux was playing at his normal pace, they'd be 3rd place right now if not 2nd. As it is, they're really not that far out. He needs to get going if this team is do anything. - jmatchett383

On one hand, the Flyers did exactly what they should do last night. On the other hand, is it concerning to anyone else that Couturier, Laughton and Hayes are the ones leading the charge? Do we look like a team who Poised to advanced to the second round of the playoffs? |

Please be more specific. - Tomahawk
He is erratic in his net and often overplays the puck taking himself out of position. He's an AHL goaltender in my opinion. |

I don’t know if I agree. Couturier is our best player right now but Couturier has to keep up his impressive play. Giroux is a former two time Hart nominee, a former 100 point player and had played in a Stanley Cup Final. Large shoes. |

Antti Niemi was erratic and overplayed the puck. I don't think that stops you from being an NHL goalie. Technical precision is not a requirement to stop the puck.
And Lyon's stopped the puck well at every level's he's played at. He's pretty quick in net and his glove appears to be really good. Most of all, his mental approach to the game seems really solid and he's pretty consistent.
I could see him turning into an Alex Stalock, Carter Hutton, Aaron Dell type if given the chance. |

Coots has been doing it for 3 seasons now.
Giroux is far from washed up, he's actually playing really well for the most part. But I think you'll see him start taking more of a back-seat, a la mid-30's Stevie Y. |

We're not.discussing.Niemi. He hasn't shown it enough at the NHL level. He doesn't impress me. |

Huge Coots fan. He has made players on his line better for the last 5 years. It's no coincidence that Gs 102 point , Hart screwing season. came the one year that he played the most with Coots. I personally think Coots has been the best player on the team for AT LEAST the last 3 years. Just think where this team would be without him. |

I understand wanting more out of players like Giroux/Voracek/JVR, but why is it concerning to you on what players are "leading the charge" on a given night? When those bottom 6 players are contributing offensively, that's a good thing. |

I feel like you 100% read my reply wrong...
I was confirming that I thought what you said was a great point and asking how many games he played in over the past 10. |

There is no question of this. For going on 3 seasons now. This isn't a knock on Giroux, it speaks more to how dominant Couturier has been. |

Hopefully the day will come where Couts can center Giroux again. Then both of them can rack the points up together |

I'm wondering why they haven't switched JvR and Coots on the PP. The PP looks a bit lost, so I'd load up that PP1 . |

They Flyers are substantially better than last year and 7-2-1 in their past 10 all without Giroux or JVR producing . Those wins have to come from some place and from some players.
Note Im not saying that Giroux isnt having a down year, he 100% is by his point production standards but if you would have told me that he would be fourth on the team in points and they would still be thriving I would have never believed it. |

Okay, I agree with all of this. My expectations of Coots is he passes his career high and wins the Selke this season. After this, anything you’ve said is hard to argue. |

Because if our best players aren’t our best players come playoff time, we won’t advance. I want to make the second round at minimum. |

When I was watching the Red Wings last night, all I could think of how many gritty players they have, that I think this team would benefit from. Luke Glendenning, Madison Bowey and Givan Smith all look like gritty players I would love to pick up from the Wings. |

I love the season Coots is having. It doesn’t matter who leads the way. We just need more from everyone not named, Couturier, Hayes, Laughton and even Pitlick. |

Might not be popular but I'd move Konecny and Provorov off PP1. Konecny has been making poor decisions lately on the PP. Provorov hasnt really shown me he is providing anything special on the PP right now. Niskanen is producing on PP2. He is making the right plays, we need to shake things up.
Perhaps it is best to just go back with that #1 unit that plays 3/4 of the PP. Right now the Flyers are winning despite the PP. To ensure we keep going, we need the PP clicking. |
