Don't lie so much. I haven't posted here in awhile, but saw Dubas made a move. I believe to protect his job and scramble to get some grit and a backup goalchie. He should have done those things in the off season so he doesn't have to scramble now to get into the playoffs.

Shanahan got rid of uncle Lou, who I believe, was a better GM.

Dubas has known about the backup goalchie and grit issues for years and done nothing, except now. Why? At the beginning of the year I was very complimentary towards the leaf. I still believe they can turn it around and get in. But it's a lot harder than it needed to be. That is all.

Dubas is trying to win with speed and skill on all 4 lines. Probably not how I would build a team, but what I think has no bearing on the Leafs decisions. Ha. Dubas has mentioned numerous times that no one has ever tried to win this way. Shanahan would have given the green light to try this.

As for the back up goalie, Dubas thought he had Neuvirth in the off season and he ended up not playing at all due to medical reasons(?? Pain killers). As well, to sign our top 4 he had to make calculated risks when it came to our bottom 6 and goaltending.

1st risk was using Marlies and undrafted ufa's to fill out his roster. He did that with Engvall, Mickey etc. This has worked out pretty good

2nd risk was after Neuvirth fell through, to use Sparks. This was a disaster. Then he tried Hutch. Bigger disaster.

To make the dance and go deep in the playoffs you need minimal injuries. We have been plagued. As well, your goaltending has to be good. Ours has been terrible, including Freddie.

I heard it 7 billion times last season. Now the goalie does it and you try to find other ways to blame the players during the sequence.
