i like this trade.

campbell is an athletic goalie. if he has quick lateral movement, he should be good enough be the type of goalie we need for ~8-10 starts.

a guy like clifford was needed; too bad marchment couldn't cut it. solid add to the 4th line. seems like a defensively responsible player.

picks can be recovered when we trade hyman at the draft

Can he keep his stick in his hand and not trip over his goal post?

They either panic or plan parades that will never happen.

If he can stop more than 91% of the shots faced against teams between 5th and 25th in league standings he'll be fine.

Clifford was a nice addition of sandpaper. I bet adding the forward frees up Kappy or Johansson to be moved for a Dman like Dillon.

Add a conditional pick if he doesn't resign.

On the surface Dubas gets an 8/10 on this trade. We'll see how this goes

I drew a few routes after we went 9-1 with Keefe.

will be too expensive on his next deal.

hawks in their prime knew when to cut bait with mid-tier players. we'll need to do the same.

I think Pierre climbs the ladder bumping one of the top 9 out of the mix. He and Mikky should be good value guys for another year or two.

Some top 9 forward is going to be moved but I kinda doubt it's Hyman. If he's looking to be paid like a 20+ goal guy for 4+ years then I'm with you - move on. But if he's content to realize he's the hardworking 3rd liner riding wingman with M&M and will take Kerfoot type $$$ then I say lock him up.

Kerfoot would be my preferred move. He wasn't a great centre but I feel like he's been invisible most nights since they pushed him to the wing.

it was more fun watching the leafs when we had Grabovski, Kulemin etc.
not because we had a better team, but at least there was some sort of feeling that they were all trying to their best to get a win, in spite of the weaknesses.
this team just doesn't feel as caring that much.

Just thought you should know that you are actually correct on a lot of your takes and just because these leftist bullies, who are clearly insecure, don’t agree with you does not mean your opinion is stupid or invalid.
Opinions are a byproduct of liberty and democracy, and you are entitled and respected for having the balls to go against the grain and state your opinion.

Why we traded a promising young, feisty and fast player along with a 3rd and 2nd for a backup goalie and a 4th line UFA is literally beyond me.
Kings have Grundstrom, Durzi, Moore, Bjornfot, 2020 3rd and 2021 2nd for Muzzin, Campbell and a 4th line scrub. 😂😂😂
Muzzin is a FA after this season so basically it’s Grundstrom, Durzi, Moore, Bjornfot and a couple more top-90 picks for a backup goalie for two years and a top 4 defenseman for the remainder of this year.

Just imagine if Burke was making these kinda trades and how all the fruit loops would be crying about “asset management”.
Hilarious.

- optimus-reim

All of the guys you list short of Grundstrom are projects unlikely to make the NHL as a regular, ever.

They may, and that's fine, but that's a gamble I take with those trades every time, given that Muzzin is more important to this team right now than any of those pieces likely ever would have been.

And it's funny how you label Trevor Moore a promising piece, while at nearly 25 years old he has 13 points in 52 games in his career, one less game and one less point than Kyle Clifford has..... THIS SEASON.

Trevor Moore is a guy you like to like, because he's not tremendously skilled, but works hard. He is not promising though, in the sense that his ceiling is basically a 3rd or 4th liner. He's not something the Leafs are going to look back at in 5 years and lament losing.

We should all thank the hockey gods we got Matthews. He could turn out to be the best Leaf ever. It is a joy to watch him every game.

well.. for me it is an important thing.
this just isn't a team which is great to watch - it's like they want to be the Harlem Globetrotters of hockey.. not what I'm looking for in a hockey team.

He's (a bit) better than Marner, but more enjoyable to watch Marner's plays.

Sorry, have to disagree here. Matthews is at another level and he is just coming into his own.

Marner is a star. Matthews is a generational talent... imo
