I agree with the Ducks fan that for Kase and Manson the Leafs we need more...so...and I suck at this....but realistic attempt:

Kapanen, Dermott, prospect like Bracco, 2nd

for

Kase and Manson

Then the forwards look like this:

Hyman, Matthews, Marner
Micheyev, Tavares, Nylander
Johnsson, Kerfoot, Kase
Clifford, Spezza, Goat

Then the defense looks like this:

Reilly, Manson
Muzzin, Holl
Sandin, Ceci
Liljigren (to start getting him minutes in the NHL)

Andersen
Campbell

Looks better, IMO.

stop giving Kapanen away - its Johnsson first.

and you forgot Engvall who should be on the 2nd line as a winger with Tavares.

Johnsson Bracco and a 2nd is the new Ryder, Halak and a 2nd.

nope....

nothing will ever replace the unlimited return that Ryder, Halak and 2nd could bring.

Agreed... I like Kap more, and Johnsson looks like he ghosted the team since coming back from injury.

I think Kap is the one to move over AJ, RW vs LW and value to other teams.

Johnsson looking like an overpaid 7th rounder that scored 20 goals one year playing with Matthews.

Fixed: Kap, Bracco a 4th rounder + Marincin for Dillion.

The added 4th rounder is for SJ taking Marincin off our hands.

exactly... that's why they must capitalize on the "fact he's a 20 goal scorer"... because he likely never will be again.

except if he goes to Ottawa or Seattle where he'll be on the first line.

I think he can be an effective player, but yeah.. I hope other teams value him highly.

Ceci, Johnsson and Bracco for Manson Subban and 30% retained.

Agree 100% Johnsson skates fast and accomplishes zip. He doesn't knock guys off the puck. He doesn't cycle it down low. As soon as he receives the puck he dishes it right away instead of using his speed to drive the net or push the D back. He is expendable.

I hope that Keefe recognizes that Engvall has been far less effective as a center. Move him up to play with Tavares and Nylander.

Put Spezza in as the 3rd line center with Kapanen and Johnsson. I think that may get Johnsson going a bit again.

of course, that would push Kerfoot down the line-up.... or make him trade bait.

Could be, I liked Engvall with Tavares..

I wonder if Keefe tries Clifford with Tavares and Nylander?

personally, I have no interest in acquiring Subban. I believe he's lost interest in actually playing... and I doubt whether his better half wants to reside north of the border.

but Ceci, Johnsson and Bracco might get you Severson.

c'mon... think of the Willy's marketing opportunities going up in smoke... if he's ever caught in a photograph of him and Clifford.

Really?

(Ryder + Halak + 2nd) > (Kadri + Gardiner + 2nd) ??

And all this time, I just thought I forgot to carry a '1' in my equation . . .

The Leafs are among the +27 teams that inquired today about the Sharks Brendon Dillon. San Jose needs a lot to move him. A top prospect like Sandin, multiple draft picks including at least one 1st and a top 6 cost conrolled winger like Kapanen would be the minimum. Price is going up hourly. Leafs may need to strike now while they can still get him at a discount.

Like the trade. Both guys are guys I wanted ion the Leafs.

The only concern with it is the trading away of picks and the UFA walk aways will eventually catch up to the club if they don't get some return at some point on those assets.

At this point I think Sandin has shown he's getting better quickly and defensively he is eclipsing Barrie already. With that being the case Barrie's value becomes basically PP only on the Leafs as they have so many guys that contribute to the offence, it might be wise to let him go and get a 1st or a prospect back in return to keep the train rolling.

Don't want to end up with zero picks or prospects in 3 years because they went for it too hard.
