Barrie @ $2.75m would bring in all sorts of future value.

That said, in the last 30 games, since Keefe took over, Barrie has the 4th most D-Man 5v5 points, and the 8th most overall. That's production that is hard to replace considering that we don't know how well Rielly will return from injury.

I hate his decision making skills, too. I hate how he couldn't beat a 9 year old tied up in a skipping rope if he was battling for a puck with him. I hate how easily he is displaced in front of the net, and how easily his stick is lifted at crucial defensive moments.

But he is a play driver from the backend that we don't have otherwise. We honestly can't afford to trade him until we have another option that can provide the same level of offense from the back-end.

We need the value now, and there's simply no equivalence @ $2.75m.

Leafs are going nowhere this year. Cut your losses and dump Barrie. Dump Muzzin too if you can and recover wasted assets. Call up Liljegren and start planning for next year.

Dermott unfortunately hasn't shown much growth which is disappointing. Doesn't mean he won't turn out to be a top 4 guy. Defense take a lot longer to develop but this team doesn't have the time to waste.

Dermott unfortunately hasn't shown much growth which is disappointing. Doesn't mean he won't turn out to be a top 4 guy. Defense take a lot longer to develop but this team doesn't have the time to waste.

That's a really tough one. On the one hand, it'd be a steal to get Dumba for Dermott and Bracco. On the other hand, Dumba isn't what the Leafs need and his cap hit kind of sucks.

Probably should turn that into a 3-way deal and move Dumba somewhere else to get something they need.
