Was it a good trade though?
- robin_steele264

In terms of value given up and received? Probably not.

In terms of subtracting from team strengths and adding to weaknesses...it's a clear win.

Moore + a 2nd (you have to assume that Campbell will win at least 6 games with Freddy potentially out for a week and then something) and a 3rd...?

frigging overpay.

rather would have liked Leafs giving up another player - and I'm not that convinced that Campbell is the solution here.

What really rubs me the wrong way is that Dubas only seems to focus on players/people that he has ties with from the past: Keefe, Sandin, scouts and other technical staff he brought in, and now Clifford and Campbell..

lot's of talk about 'young generation / new ways' but it seems that Dubas runs things more old style than Burkie and Lou combined.

(the bad Dubas/Keefe stories that will come out in 2+ years from now will be epic imo).

No.

One is barely an nhl 4th liner, the other is a boarder line 2nd liner.

- burn

Slow down.
Pull the koolaid away from your mouth.
Clifford is a 4th liner, who could fill on the 3rd line.
No team with cup aspirations will ever have him on the 2nd.
Lol
Lets not overhype Clifford simply because the leafs picked him up.

Hopefully not too late.

But it's the type of move we needed. I don't imagine the players had much confidence in Hutch to actually make saves. Now hopefully we can put up some wins and trade for a RHD at the deadline.

It was really amazing how terrible the backups have been this year.

Can't remember many goals worse than the fourth by the Rangers last night. Both the timing and the level of difficulty. Dubas should trade Hutch to a team that wants to move up in the draft.

Moore is 4th line/ahl.

He won't be missed.

Good in that we got a better goalie
Good in that we gave up no roster player

Bad in that we've yet to make it past the 1st round, aren't in a playoff spot and seem to be shipping draft picks out often.

But i feel its way too early to tell, gotta see how these two help the team first.

Dubie had to get a back up.

We swapped roster players, does that not count as giving 1 up?

Agreed

I do wish we would keep our draft picks though. Eventually our cupboard will be bare if we keep doing this. A 1st here, a 2nd there. And all from poor planning and lack on long term thinking...

Watching the Oilers-Coyotes game the other night.

They showed a speed up video of Kessels entire pre game warmup.

He got on the ice and literally leaned on the bench talking to a trainer for the entire warmup then back to the dressing room.

I thought that was neat.

seems like a decent trade.

the 2 forwards seem like a bit of a wash.....so essentially a couple of 3rd rd picks to see if Campbell is better than Hutch. He doesn't have nearly enough NHL games to say for sure, and the experience he does have is in front of a pretty crappy team.

if he turns out to be good, then win for you......if not, you lost a couple of mid-round picks. not great, but not the end of the world

He's one of very few players born in California - will be playing for his dream team. I agree, the picks were what a team like LA wanted. They currently have 5 cap hits for players making about $10.8 million in cap space that do not play for them anymore.
