The standings disagree this year. They are where they should be. A lot of teams have adversity. The Penguins have had injuries like crazy. They're still playing well. The Leafs are a fragile, immature team. Their ability to succeed in the playoffs is a blue and white pipe dream. It's precisely why people have to lean on the poopty argument that "anything can happen" in the face of facts and reality that it rarely does for teams that play like the Leafs.
- JohnFergusonJr

Standings are only 50 games old, TDL hasn’t passed yet, what if we end up trading for a #1 d over the next couple days?

Lots still can happen, you say rarely, which leaves the door open. ( see gif above )

All 4 wild card teams made the 2nd round last year. Are you ever right?

I wont respond to him anymore. He offers nothing of substance and is just going to continue to belittle other peoples intelligence and argue for the sake of argueing.
- systemtool

He says the exact same thing over and over again. And not from yesterday....the same crap from 6 months ago.

I quit responding to him I hope everyone else does as well.

To be honest, I think we can make a run at it and still retool on the fly if we lose.

You’re not going to attract many players trading key pieces away while trying to make the playoffs and win a cup. End up chasing guys away, and they’ll just walk instead of resigning etc.

Muzzin is probably being resigned, and if we are way out in 2-3 weeks the you may get your wish with some trades ie. Barrie etc.

- Garnie

A run at who? Boston? Tampa Bay? Washington?

Who do they need to attract? The UFA days are done with the limited cap space. And if they sign all their pending UFAs, there won't be any cap space to attract any one anyway. That's a weak argument.

Ya, they can take a run at any 1 of those teams and those UFA’s they just resigned will need to resign again.

Anyways, hope you cheer for the Leafs. It’s hard to tell what team you’re a fan of.

"Rarely" is reserved for the few teams that play defense, unlike the Leafs, like the Blues and the Kings.

Hes one of the reasons im not here often anymore. Insecure people like him who lack self confidence come online and try to pretend theyre always right and superior to others because the internet makes their manhood 8 inches bigger. The whole, im right, you're wrong, lets argue the same point for hours act gets boring.

K, this place is gonna be downer edgelord loops indefinitely now. I'll check in when the playoffs start.

Garnie, remember when Willy hits 30 goals as per our wager, change your location to Nylander Lover.

See you sperm thermoses later. 😘

Things should get a little better once the Leafs go on a little winning streak and are back in a playoff spot. So give it a week or two.

Let’s take that with a grain of salt, though.

Odds do not reflect who Vegas thinks will win.

They reflect who the public thinks will win.

In all sports, New York, Chicago and LA teams will always be favoured higher, because fat guys on business trips will happily drop coin on their teams.

Leafs Nation too.

- Atomic Wedgie

But Vegas comes out with the starting odds, at the beginning of the season before anybody dropped a dime and If i remember correctly the Leafs were 6th.

No they aren't.

This team is more than a tweak away.

Nothing will happen except another 1st round loss.

If somebody could prove that the Leafs play like let's say the Blues of last year or the Kings of 5 years ago, then maybe the fantasy of "anything can happen" can be entertained. But the Leafs don't play that way. Leafs play to win 6-5. That poop doesn't work in the playoffs.

- JohnFergusonJr

You really think they played the same in the last two playoffs as they did in the regilar season?

The odds before the season are irrelevant. They're also probably based on history which again means irrational betting from fans in the past. It means next to nothing in terms of the real odds of winning.

Oh well, RESERVED will he used for this years winner too I guess.

I agree we haven’t looked the best, but top 10 teams don’t sell off after 50 games that I know of.

Pretty sure all the top teams from Vegas before the year are all still top teams right now, so only irrelevant to you. 🥳

Any team who would trade off players and give up on making the playoffs when still in striking distance, would be considered a complete bunch of (frank)ing idiots. This also would include any hockey fan who would think such a thing in anyway would be a good thing....

They're out of the playoffs and they're not in the top 10 so as it stands, they should be considering sell mode.
