Larry Brooks does bring up an interesting point in his article...like what happened to Stepan, Trouba's No trade clause doesn't kick in till July 1st. If the Rangers feel Adam Fox is the top pair RH d man of the future, and you want to keep ADA and envision Nils Lundqvist filling out the other spot...do you look to see what trade offers are out there? Not saying I would trade Trouba cause his physical element is needed but it is interesting. His 8 million cap hit is pretty high.

yep I did see he said that, but, I dont know, I think he is staying

it will probably be a thought in the back of everyone's mind until July 1st though

Would solve a bunch of cap issues potentially. I'd roll with ADA and Fox on the right side next season. Even if you thought that the next man up wasn't ready yet to play, could always pluck somebody from UFA.

Yea its highly unlikely and if he plays well down the stretch it will be mute anyway. But it is an interesting thought

I wonder if seeing Kakko and Kravtsov struggle this year, heightens the Rangers interest in keeping Kreider. Not that those two will not get better, but I’m thinking the team doesn’t want to take any chances by not having a good enough forward group, without Kreider

This is the one thing I have been saying for awhile. At this point of the season I think they imagined Kakko, Lias Andersson, and Kratsov would be staples in the top 9. Right now only Kakko is there and even he is struggling with consistency. From everything I am reading the team wants to compete right now. Need production.

I think you’ll get your wish and he’ll re-sign. I think Strome is the one that gets moved

They should have signed him last summer, would have been cheaper. With the way he is playing and the fact he is one of top free agents behind Taylor Hall this offseason its not going to be cheap or easy. But they need to find a way.

Surprised Vukota didn't show up. He seems to search all over for those kind of mistakes

He must have an Islanders trigger alert on his phone. I swear within 5 minutes of someone saying Isles in here he is posting

He's an RFA though. For as much as I said they should have given ADA more money to avoid a situation like what could happen this offseason, they should play hardball with Strome.

if Kreider is resigned and they give him a NMC, it leaves another forward unprotected in expansion draft

that's got to factor in their thinking, it's not just about the money

If they resign him wouldn't they protect him whether or not he gets an NMC? Otherwise whats the point of signing him if you could just lose him for nothing.

crazy to think you could argue Krieder is only the third most valuable Ranger to have an expiring contract......

It could prevent them from losing a younger player that they like.
