But we don't need Subban.. - LeafGuy89
The Leafs don't need anyone.
If they want to get better then yeah Subban will help a lot.

It's funny Islanders fans are really starting to crap on Lou for adding no skill and spending so much on aging grinders.
They just can't have that roster work like that every year and build around it. There' allmost no skill and Barzal is not delevoping into a star. - RogerRoeper

If had to put odds on which D with term the Leafs would be get I'd give him the highest.
He is obviously available and Dubas wanted him at 6 million per in the offseason. I can imagine that number has gone down a bit but not much. - Santo_44
I don't know if Subban is in decline or disinterested (I feel similarly with guys like Doughty, and so on as well). I'd have to leave that up to scouts and people who see him on a regular basis. His underlying numbers still appear decent.
The PK Subban I think of is a guy who can be high risk, but still hits a little and can outmuscle guys along the wall when needed. He is prone to defensive gaffes, but he can skate, pass and shoot. Basically his offensive side isn't as high as Barrie, but his defensive side is significantly better. Is that fair? If it is, then I wouldn't mind him at a reasonable cap hit (6 or less).

I don't know what he's saying or isn't saying - and I don't particularly care, since he's probably learned that he can stay relevant by trolling Leafs fans.
That said, any deal within our division with rival teams like Buffalo, Ottawa or Montreal would cost us more than a non-division team.
If we were really on the outside looking in, and shedding players - the pricetag for Muzzin or Barrie would be significantly different for Boston than it would be for Edmonton. - Monkeypunk
I have given up on Petry.
But even that, people should look at Bergavins mindset of not wanting to trade Petry unless its an over payment and look around the league..There aren't many teams that have D available. |

I would agree.
I think him and Muzz would be the best pairing the Leafs have had in a long (frank)ing time. |

I agree with you - apart from Barrie having a higher offensive upside. Subban's shot on the PP would give Leafs a weapon they could use very much - plus he's a good passer. |

Snow sucks.

I also wonder if - and I think Santo suggested it the other day - he isn't someone who would rise to the occasion of playing in the media limelight of Toronto. |

He didn't suffer any significant injury...He shouldn't drop off that much over a summer.
It is a really bad fit and NJ was a team that was supposed to be a playoff contender and they aren't even close.
I think he would flourish in this environment.
5-5.5 million? I would send over some good value for that. - Santo_44
i think his weight is the issue.
leafs scouts should be able to figure out if his speed is really a problem or not by watching enough game tape. |

Yeah the scouts would know best.
I just see from an outsider's perspective that it is hard to believe a guy can decline that hard over a summer....
He isn't an elite number 1 d anymore but he is a solid top 4 option. If the Leafs want a legit top pairing d they have to hope Sandin becomes one. |

If we can get P.K with some salary retained, that would be great.. I'm all for that.
Our pp would be even stronger.. IMO, Subban has a better shot than Barrie |

Just would have to know the Leafs would have to give up a Kerfoot/Kap/Johnnson if Subban was retained to 5 million.
Subban got the old a couple 2nds and some meh prospects for his full 9 million salary. They aren't doing that for 5 million Subban. |

disagree.
They almost traded for him in the offseason if it wasn't for NJ doing NSH a favor. |
