I had some from this set. Its Gretz 2nd year, but also some great rookies in there Like Messier and Bork

If had to put odds on which D with term the Leafs would be get I'd give him the highest.

He is obviously available and Dubas wanted him at 6 million per in the offseason. I can imagine that number has gone down a bit but not much.

He's got some good skills, but his positioning is mediocre at best, and his biggest issue is that he doesn't seem to have a lot of confidence in his own abilities. (he's not a guy that easily 'shakes off' a bad goal).

we had the complete set of lemiux's rookie season ... at least 2 sheets?

we cut them up. my brother eventually traded lemiuex for basically his buddy's entire collection.

I kept two binders with 81-82 and 82-83 OPC complete sets and a few single rookies in hardcases: Gretzky, Gilmour, Lemieux, Clark, Lindros and Selanne.

Have no idea where to find realistic Canadian prices now that there’s no monthly Beckett.

Next year is its own issue. You have to figure with Engvall and ideally Mikheyev getting modest bridge deal raises, the forwards are going to come in around $58m.

With Rielly, Holl, Sandin, Liljegren and Marincin signed, the D are at $9.5m (67.5 running total)

With Andersen and Campbell, the goalies are at $6.7m ($74.2m).

There's still Kessel's $1.2m retention for another couple of years ($75.4m)

Assuming the cap goes up to about $83m, when you ignore the rounding I did here and there, it leaves $7.7m to fit in 2 D-Men. Basically you're deciding whether you think you can resign Muzzin or acquire a D-Man going forward. If the acquisition cost of that D-Man is a Kapanen or a Johnsson, then you have about $10.2m going into next year (assuming you're replacing their $3.3m average salary with an ELC).
