Well, with him and Risto you never know what you will get. He and Skinner had good/great years last year and look where that got the Sabres. Sometimes you need talented AND good soldiers to build the right winning culture. Holding on to your toys because you are attached to them is nice when you are little but no so much when you need results. We held on to our favorite toys during the Vanek, Miller, Pominville era and look where that got us.

If your top winger is Sam Reinhart and we speculate about a deal and most agree that it would take Sam + something substantial to get an upgraded winger or center doesn't that tell you he isn't that awesome?

Many team's top wingers could get something good on their own.

Sam could get a good haul on his own. It would just be futures. Teams don't trade players like that almost ever, which is why swapping him for someone just as good is almost never going to happen.

about the only time you get comparable value is when you trade from a position of strength for a position of weakness with a team of the opposite.. we have 8 million D, why can't we trade some of them plus a prospect or something for offense??

we have been saying this for 5 years.. the only ones that have improved have been Jack and Sam.. the rest are the same or worse

Dman dive on 2-1's all the time, not sure if anyone asked about it though. Less often do players quit on plays.
