Bills need to overhaul the O line. That has to be priority #1. You’re barely addressing it.
- Hatboro_Swords

I don’t see it as big of an issue as you do
Singletary led the league in ypc for RBs
Don’t think they’re that bad

As a general rule,
I don’t like paying OL in free agency or drafting them in the 1st
Don’t think you need to do that to build a good OL

I think a healthy Morse helps too

I rarely thought there were massive holes to run through. Not like what you would see with San Fran, Titans or Balt. Besides, they weren’t great at pass blocking either. I think if they really want to help Allen, upgrade the OL.

Well whose worth more for the Money. To me and I've liked Risto's game this year, I would keep Montour as long as his demands aren't outrageous. Borgen and Samuelsson will be taking care of what Risto brings.
- Buff36

Radical idea: trade both Ristolainen and Montour for forward help, sign an RHD in the offseason, and roll with Jokiharju, the FA RHD, and Miller as your 3 RHD next year.

Totally agree with Ion on the above idea of trading both.

My somewhat realistic attempt at the forward group next year:

Olofsson - Eichel - Reinhart
Skinner - Bonino - Ehlers
Josh Leivo - Haula - Johansson
Lazar - Larsson - Asplund

The above means there is zero reliance, aside from injury depth, on unknowns such as Cozens, Mittelstadt, and Thompson.

I’m down for upgrading it
Just isn’t my 1st priority
Can’t fill every hole / improve every position

Just don’t like spending big $$ or high picks there

Not sure what I want it to look like but it’d be nice to see a little more than just cosmetic changes to this team next year.

Simply bringing everyone back, but for one or two, would be kinda deflating.

I don't think we're using the word "buried" the same way.

He was called up after 30 games, after coming off an injury. It was a great place to rehab and get his game back, and I'm 100% confident it was explained that way.

I'm not shooting the messenger.

The messenger even said it was 2nd or 3rd hand information.

I think I’d go Bonino OR Haula
I MUCH prefer Bonino
Or just leave out Leivo
I want a spot available when Cozens & Mitts are ready
Okposo is still gonna be here too
And I’d bring back Girgs

Ehlers ❤️❤️❤️

With how bad they've been for how long, I'm in a (frank) it let's get nuts mood.

In that light: trade Montour and Risto (in separate deals) plus for the forward help we all know they badly need.

Sign Pietrangelo as your top pairing RHD in free agency.

Roll with a top 3 D core of Dahlin, Pietrangelo, and Jokiharju going forward.

The idea behind both Bonino and Haula is Bonino has one year left on his deal, and after the poop show that has been the downfall of the past two seasons, I do not want any reliance for any kind of NHL production from any of Mittelstadt, Cozens, or Thompson for next year. The year after that, sure.

If you want to keep Girgensons over Lazar, no problem there.

Josh Leivo is having a nice season and might be a cheap depth signing that could help the Sabres have an actual quality 3rd line in the first time in over a decade.

Do something crazy, shake everything up
Reinhart, Risto, and Asplund to the Ducks for Henrique, Kase, and Rakell, sign Bonino.

Sam theory:
Buffalo-bad, grubby ripper magoos. Lazy play.

NYC-clean ripper magoos. Blazes through the defense to beat the goalie one-on-one.

Yeah, i get it... and agree
Seems like u think i don’t?

I prefer Bonino over Haula for a couple reasons
1- Bonino is better
2- Haula’s recent injury history blows
3- Haula would have to be overpaid for longer term than we’d probably like

I’d rather have a spot for either Mitts, Cozens or even Tage on line3 over Leivo

4th line would consist of Okposo, Larsson, Girgs & Lazar
Asplund can fight for that 3rd line spot,
or continue developing his offense in Roch & be a call up

Interesting
But idk that u can sign Pietrangelo AND have
Cap room for the 2 top6 forwards you’re trading
Risto & Montour for

Bonino has to be traded for

Henrique is on a terrible contract & NOT good,
especially as a 2C

Totally fair, but as I've said, I'm in a (frank) it figure it out mode, so let's say the return for Ristolainen and Montour (I know it would take additional pieces) would be Ehlers and Tuch. That would likely work under the cap if we say the duo of Montour and Ristolainen, starting next year, would be making a shade over $10M combined per year.

But could we pay AP27,
and the raises to Sam & Dahlin & others?

I’d have to do a Cap Friendly to figure it out
But I’m thinking it would only work till we started having to give the big raises

seems CDC offered China help for weeks on the coronavirus

they never responded

Why would they? They'll just lock 50M people in their homes and call it a day.

It might mean somebody like Olofsson might be a cap casualty long term.

I have no idea how much the cap will go up the next 2 years nor how much of a raise Dahlin will get on his next deal.

I've seen countless other good teams figure it out that I'd like to see the Sabres figure it out for once.

I also don’t love the idea of signing Pietr. But if the Sabres have the opportunity of drafting Drysdale, that’d mean he slid down to us in a big way...unless you like him at 3?

https://www.capfriendly.c.../armchair-gm/team/1611671

Ignore the 1 year term on all the signings as I only wanted to get the estimated cost of each player for next season.

Bottom line: it is possible but it would take a lot of maneuvering.

I think most of the salaries are close,
and the trades seem reasonably close too
Just gotta convince all those teams to let those players go now
