I tend to wait on players until they physically mature a little. If youre a 20 year old kid coming into the NHL with 25-30 guys like Doughty, Seth Jones, Risto, Giordano, Josi, etc playing D, I can see it taking some time physically to get there.
Noone is going to tell me that 25 year old Sam Reinhart is the same as 20 year old Sam Reinhart.
Im willing to wait a little on 37. |

Also on the good news front, Gilmour has overtaken Mittelstadt for the green jacket lead. He's two strokes ahead at -10 |

And I still wouldn't consider trading Dahlin for him unless it came with their unprotected first this year (which they wouldn't do.) Dahlin is going to hit 40 points for the second time as a teen in a sheltered role and missed time. The skys the limit for him. - SDSabre
I agree, so that's why like I said there would have to be more included to do it. We are not trading Dahlin, it was hypothetical. But he is, well other than Eichel the only player that could get you the highend assets to really make a difference for this team. |

I understand what you are saying, and understand it's a hypothetical. Anyone can make a hypothetical about us trading Eichel, or getting McJesus or whatever. I'm just saying long term, it's something that shouldn't be entertained. You brought up the proposal, I said even in a hypothetical, no. That's all. |

So build through the draft. What a idea, to bad we were starting to do that, and decided to rush a rebuild. - Buff36
Build through the draft
Good strategy if employed correctly.
Extends the rebuild process timeline
Difficult sell to a fanbase who last saw a good team 14 seasons ago and has not seen a playoff game in 9 years
Be prepared for existing complimentary players to age out, become liabilities production wise related to their aged contract
Gotta strike a balance here in Buffalo.
Adding via FA and Trade is an imperative between now and September:
- 1 top 6 player
- 1 middle 6 player
- 1st pairing RhD
Outside Cozens, due to need, the Drafted players then begin to populate the roster in 2021-2022 season and beyond. |

I felt like he should have been a forward when he was here. Idk, he's fast but he's not much of a defenseman |

Totally agree lon, we brought players in via trades the last few years that sucked the life out of the team cause we didn't have a farm system to fill spots, and they failed horribly. |

He is good in the offensive zone, creates a lot but he just can't play defense. It's probably why he's a career AHL'er. |

There are 174 trade clauses (modified, no trade, no movement) for an average of 5.6 per team.
As we all know, it's a mix of some good names and some really poopty names
https://www.thefourthperiod.com/no-trade-clauses
So on average a GM has the option to trade for 17.3/23 of the players on a given roster, or 75% of a roster without encountering a trade clause.
There are trades to be made - jcragcrumple
And then you have to factor in the cap implications and ramifications...

The Sabres are better then their record indicates. Goaltending sunk this team or else we’d be in the thick of the playoff race. I have a hunch we’ll be looking at this year as a blessing in disguise a few years from now when we’re adding a stud on an ELC to a team that will be primed to compete.
This year for the Sabres is reminiscent of how the Bills were able to add an Ed Oliver last year before taking off this year. What’s going to resonate more with you a few years from now ? Having a potential Pro Bowl game wrecking talent on the d-line or the playoff loss in Houston ?
The Sabres have a great opportunity to add a game breaking forward while making the moves necessary in the offseason to make us a playoff team next year.
I’m very happy to be here. - Pegullaville
