I knew you'd post that. At the end of my post I was going to say "queue Gerbe posting a pic of old man yelling at cloud" ... but I forgot - because i'm old. |

In a comparison between franking wingers.
My generalization of the position in itself still stands that it is the least important position in hockey. - Pegullaville
So it was good he had 17 EV goals when comparing him to Reinhart, yet it just doesnât matter and no one should care.

I posted on the Blackhawks forum here to confirm, but CapFriendly, who is usually quite solid, only have Strome listed as a Center.
The 1st would not to be included in a Mittelstadt + Pilut for Strome + Kubalik trade. - kingcong39
Without the 1st being involved, then WTF is Botts waiting for
Strome >>>>>>>>>>>>>>, >>>>>>>>>>>>>Mitts
Kubalik >>>>>,>>>>Pilut
The only issue for me is Kubalic is LW, when on the team already is Olo, Skinner and Mojo.

Maybe LW since their are many more producers there, RW is harder to find as many.
We all knew the contract was an overpayment of $1m, probably more...the Term is the bigger concern for me. |

We need good hockey players, and Kubalik fits that and are time-line |

Absolutely.
Maybe Botts knows he has Bowman on the Pommel horse again, and is now trying to extract even more, lol.
Stan would be a complete moron to make that deal..he'd probably get fired for even mentioning it. |

His entire argument is flawed.
We shouldnât sign a winger to a big contract because they donât matter, and we shouldâve used the cap space on multiple wingers who donât matter.

No I only brought up even strength goals due to the paraphrased quote which in fact I misunderstood.
Laineâs PP production is the reason why heâs only on pace for 30 and not 40+ but I see you conveniently skipped over that post. |

So it's good that his goals arent on the power play, but it's also bad that he doesn't have more powerplay goals.

I don't take that summary from his argument, he has been pretty consistent in the past saying they could have used that money on 2 wingers and probably had as much success.
Mojo is an example of a $4.5m player who previously would hold up well to that argument...especially his years on the Capitals.
I do think there is merit to his argument.

The Blue Jackets lost the best winger in the NHL this season for nothing in the offseason. You know that Panarin guy in New York now ?
Cam Atkinson is on pace for 19 goals in 71 games this year. He had 41 goals the year before.
Columbus is on pace for 102 points this year, more than last year.
Care to explain this ? Actually frank it I will.
The Blue Jackets, alike the Sabres are in the top 15% in the NHL at reducing high danger scoring the only difference is that they have a goalie who makes the saves heâs supposed to. Shocking I know.
The Sabres even with the assortment of wingers we have now and the lack of 2C would be in a playoff spot right now with a league average goaltender as our defensive play would have been the tide that raises all boats to having one of the best GAA and Sv% in the NHL.
Frank, even if the Sabres won the games they supposed to coming out of the All star break (Ottawa, Montreal, Detroit) weâd be 4 points out with the current franking roster construction.
If we used that $9M on goaltending and a 3rd line C that could of pushed Mojo to 2LW and let Skinner go rot elsewhere we would have been better off.
Sorry not sorry.

Once again I signified the paraphrased quote as a grammatical error, which I misnterpreted.
If I donât bring up the math that 20-3=17 the ES doesnât even come up in the discussion.
Iâve been harping on the importance of special teams for months. |

My argument is not flawed. His stance on the argument is more directed towards the incompetence of our management not finding average wingers to allow him to see the franking light.
The one average winger we brought in happened to be paid elite money and given superstar length term, go figure. |

âWe couldâve used that cap space on other wingers and a 2Câ
Now -
âWe couldâve used that cap space on a goalie and a 3Câ.
You. Say. Everything.
Also, the Islanders lost John Tavares, a center, the most important position of all time, and got better. There are tons of different variables, from goaltending, to defense, to special teams, to staying healthy, to coaching. It all matters one year, doesnât matter the next year, and around and around we go.
Did you know most Jack Adams winners were coaches on teams with unsustainable Save%? And that most were fired within a few years of winning the Jack Adams? Point is things change from year to year.
One of the only constants over the past 8 years is the Sabres have had very few good players. So any argument that starts with letting a good one walk for nothing is a weak, and wrong argument |

If you didnt bring something up, we wouldnt be talking about it? Well yeah, of course.
All of this is irrelevant. You love to mention how picking Sam Reinhart set the organization back years. He's tied in goals and 5 points behind a guy taken in the same position. Reinhart had more points than that guy last year.
So either selecting Laine set the jets back years, or sam Reinhart is better than you give him credit for. |

The message could be, fvck it, don't care anymore...not sure, but if so that is far worse than a bunch of caring fans they get their money from anyway.
Season ticket renewals will be the real message anyway. Kym better bring back The Philanderer, he was a magician on selling and reselling Hope. - IonSabres
