like i said hes the same as 60-100 other guys in the nhl that could easily be interchanged. - hubie
On eichel's line? Easily 60-100 players.
He gifts points to players.
That's the straw that broke the camel's back. |

Sam did all the work again last night again right?
Secondary assist where he really played 0 part of the scoring play.
And a goal that was laying on the goal line, half in.
But, 2 points right?
You think eichel could possibly have anything to do with his statistics? - Boss34
Boss, I can kinda get with you, but I realized very quickly that Sam was NEVER going to drive his own line, he cant skate fast enough, but he is a perfectly good 1st line winger with Eichel. You can't hold that against Sam for playing with Eichel.
And as for being upset about not drafting Leon, you know hindsight and all..... If I remember correctly in that draft Sam was ranked ahead of leon, you win some and you lose some... |

Bjugstad does blow, so scratch that
Bennet might be an interesting flyer,
but he’s been playing on the wing in Calgary for a few years now - jdfitz77

Seems like most of the experts are expecting a pretty quiet trade deadline
Probably drops the already mediocre value I’d think most of our UFAs had
We might not be able to do better than a 5th for any of these guys |

I highly doubt that, if that is the case, your saying just stick 2 fire hydrants on Eichels wings and watch them rack up the points?
We should trade Sam Immediately then.

Sam would be a 40 point guy tops without eichel
Where are all the leon is good because of McDavid?
4 points in 2 games without mcdavid.
Nice to see sam pissed? That's what I do not understand, soft emotionless effort. He knows it's a contract year. - Boss34

The same can be said for the majority of 1st line wingers in the NHL. Just saying. |

I appreciate this post. 👍
I notice alot of the season ticket holders do not care for sam that much?
Could it be that we are able to see him basically get beat out of every battle and disappear for long stretches ?
The last few games, Sam's been noticeably good/better in regards to effort and emotion.
The lack of effort play could turn his career around? |

I would say Mojo on the top line could definitely have 40 points right now, he has 24 points playing with nobodies |

yeah I get it boss with the effort thing... But for me I think its more of a team effort (less) thing. The whole team is soft and do not stick up for each other at all. I blame the coaching staff for that.
I personally like Sam and I think he would be missed if we did not have him. A lot of elite centers have made wingers look really good over the years. Look no further then Connor Sheary when he played with Sid. Dude scored 53 points in 61 games.

We all knew who he was when he signed here. Had Jeff and Mojo been playing with an actual top 6 center this entire season, I'd bet my house they'd have better production. The past few years he's been a half pt per game guy. He's been no different this year. He's far from the worst thing happening to that middle 6. - TheSabresTaco
I like Mojo, that's why I think with the right Center him and Skinner could make a solid 2nd line. That would give you 2 good lines. Larsson Girgs and Lazar could make up your 4th, even Wilson has looked good with them. Hopefully Cozens Mitts Tage or maybe Rustollanin(spelled wrong) can fill out some of the 3rd. Really could upgrade this roster with 2 decent FA, or by a trade or 2 |

Wholeheartedly agree, LGL 4th lien woudl be great and im perfectly fine with wilson as the call up filler
add the legit 2c and possibly another C for the 3rd line but the 3rd line of Asplund,Mitts, cozens could work wonders |

Boils down to god given talent and lack of effort.
Sam , son of a long time nhler has been given every benefit of the doubt thru out his hockey playing career.
His effort has been brought up countless times for the past few years. The sammers can deny it, but it happened in national view last week vs. Detroit.
Sam is getting set up by a top 3 passer in the league.
Pp1 every benefit possible. He has 21 goals.
For whatever reason ( I'm hoping they are boosting his trade value) the Sabres refuse to play them apart or at his drafted position- center- which he failed at prior
As a season ticket holder- ( it's my fault and all that) we lost an entire season on purpose for this non franchise player? Seriously, when the next guy picked is a mega superstar.
He is also slow and not all all exciting in person. His stats are great ,but hes slow and doesnt go all out.
Off ice - countless douche bag moves. Including not signing an autograph for a young fan.
Pommer- 2nd rounder worked his way up thru the ranks.
Even waived but percerveered.
Scored big goals and led the sabres to playoff games.
Then the wild to playoff games.
Seems like pommer gave it everything , despite not having god gifted talents. Hard worker. Clutch scorer.
Off the ice, he's a Great dude. A great human being.
He clearly was named captain, which obviously means the team and teammates respect him .
Sam wore an "A" the other day, as a make up , feel good coaching decision. Here sam, we believe in you. Dont worry about meany mike Harrington.
I can not and will not argue Sam's scoring stats.
They are impeccable. Consistent from year to year with growth. Actually impressive.
Mostly with eichel. That's where the asterisk appears
Pommer at 36 years old last year showed how easy it is to score with eichel. Easy peasy. |

Yeah, hopefully goaltending takes a step in the right direction, and 2 or 3 solid moves could really turn this team around. |

The $ is a big problem. 1st line is up for a big raise, add a 2C and the second line is making big $, LOG line (regardless of who stays) will be overpaid. Something has to give. Can't skimp on goaltending forever, and the cost of the defense is going to jump soon.

That's why we need to hope a couple of the young guys step up, And either Risto or Montour has to help get you one of those pieces. |

For the 100th time ,
Sam is not a star.
Leon is a star
Sabres picked sam 1 pick before leon.
Fans could and should be upset - still
Also:
Do we really know if sam could put up 1st round stats without eichel? No we dont know that.
You can proudly wear your reinhart Jersey to the games, good for you to look the other way. The lack of effort shows what kind of guy he is. Sure, 1 play and all that bs.
We have really soft team that's way to easy to play against. Sam is the poster boy for this.
Super soft non intense player who is a big part of this franchises failures since he was drafted , you know right before the other guy in the other conference.
It's not working with sam as a sabre. And sure it's not working with eichel either.
Big difference , superstar and guy that hangs around the superstar - Boss34
I don't buy jersey's of other men playing a sport. I don't care if others do. Sam is a first line talent on any team in the league. I'm sure you're upset that we didn't pick Pasta either there. Hindsight is glorious. And you see a guy that is emotionless, I've seen a guy stick up for our actual Star when he got crushed by Cernak over in Sweden. But yeah, lets blame the actual talent we have because he's not a better talent. Last I checked, Drai has as many rings has Sam and only one playoff appearance to his name. We'll see how well he fares after the adrenaline runs out when a star gets hurt. |

One thing forgetting is Okposo has to go somewhere, unless he decides to retire.
I woudlnt be upset if Larsson and Gus walk
4th line Okposo-Asplund-Wilson im fine with. |
