Sure, if the right #2 center with decent term and isn't crazy $ (7/8M?) I'd trade an unprotected first. This team needs to start winning. But yeah, I still don't see how trading Dahlin will make us better long term outside of getting someone that no one is trading for Dahlin. Meaning you are not going to get the net gain on trading Dahlin that you should.

Some may not know this but there are a ton of people of the north who are season ticket holders who will wear the teams of the north when they play and those tickets werent sold to people they are simply dressing for the occasion. Just like I wear my Kariya jersey for Duck games.

Ive seen the same guy where every single Canadian team jersey and I know he is a STH... and another is the guy who sits next to me gives games to his clients who are in face Canadian.

The whole its ok for an American to be fair weather is ok but how dare you sell to a Northern person is ridiculous. Have a former co worker who will ask all day for tickets when we win but once we started losing oh cant go cant do this and the excuses keep coming,.

When we're good, every single annoying part time fan will get ahold of you.

I'll tell you what, my seats aren't gonna be cheap

I think a list would be appropriate, of people that will never sit in my seats.

Olofsson is not getting $5M and Dahlin is not getting $9M on their next deals. Both are high. I also believe Montour will be traded before next season begins.
- kingcong39

VO is almost a PPG player on an expiring deal.

5 may be high, but its not out of the question. 4 minimum for VO.

Dalin is without question getting above 8Mil.

Ekbald just signed for 8/60.

5% escalation per year is 8.25 when Dahlin is up

If Dahlin continues to take the next steps he is absolutely getting close to 9 mil.

Dalin is the top point producing D-man on this team.

4th leading scorer on this team.

I swear this board sometimes.

Don't be shocked if VO's salary starts with a 2.

Agree with you on Dahlin. If he signs long term, Ekblad is the floor.

Hey man, I'm on here to let you know I just got offered free season tickets next year, but you know what, i'm not going to take them. F that. I feel it is necessary to let the board know I'm above free tickets even though I live in Buffalo.

Not to mention Ralphie inexplicably put the handcuffs on him early on even though he was piling up points. He is only now starting to escape that. Can you imagine him being unleashed in the way that Makar is in Colorado?

How long is the"Process" suppose to take? We are in year 9 of said "Process" i am really kinda sick of the "process" because so far the "process" is not working...Frank the PROCESS, Get real hockey players in here, not a bunch of 4 liners.
- hehateme

It's been a handful of different PROCESSES.

Darcy/lindy
Darcy/garden gloves rolston
Pat/ ted/gmtm
Gmtm/ dan b.
Jbotts/phail
Jbotts/ soccer instructor

1 process at the top.

Then we need to be patient and build the team around Eichel and Dahlin. Everyone female doges about this and that, but we never stick to the process
- Buff36

And EVERYONE here except for Beethoven & apparently you thinks we should do just that

Some of the patience levels vary,
but even 99.9% of the most impatient guys wouldn’t want Dahlin moved

And I’m still waiting for a response on who we’d have left on defense that’s even remotely close to Pietrangelo & Letang & Carlson if we were to trade Dahlin

*up until us GIFTING them ROR,
they were a yearly disappointment

Pittsburgh
-very arguable that they should’ve had more success than they’ve had considering no team in the league has been able to come close to matching Crosby-Malkin
In my lifetime, the only better 1-2 punch i can think of was Gretzky-Messier

Chicago
-had a great run that i think we’d all be thrilled with (same with Pitt too though)
But even all that experience hasn’t been able to help them reboot their team into the perennial contender it was

Yes, we want the Sabres to get to the level of these teams
BUT THE POINT I’M MAKING
Is that even with all that structure, and all that success, and all that experience....
u can still list tons of coaching changes & bad signings/contracts, & bad trades, & sh!tty draft picks, etc etc etc

Just putting more ppl in place doesn’t assure us of anything
Especially if they’re just retreads with as much of a history of FAILURE & MISTAKES as they’ve had success

Did it work when we had Bowman?
Muckler? Bylsma?

Idk what you’re trying to say with your post,
but there’s no clear cut answer that will automatically FIX things here

- jdfitz77

Simple, hire successful people with experience and put them in the proper places. If they like botts as a first time, young gm, you partner him with an experienced person as president.

If you fire you handsy marketing guru. You replace him with an experienced sports marketing person, not the co/owner with minimal sports management background.

They have been running the same structure since Pat was shown the door. That structure has been a rookie gm with different levels of experience coaches. The results are the same. The moral is the same. The lack of on ice success is the same. By all accounts the game day experience has gone down hill.

So with the other obligations the pegula’s have. Hire someone with sports management/ marketing experience to run the team. And then find someone to work with botts, if that’s Ralph fine, if that’s a Shero/ Gillis, type, thats fine too...

The bottom line is the successful teams seem to have a LOT of experienced people in A place to help the organization succeed.

We have the owners wife, pulled between the NFL, development, kids and other ventures. Botts and Sexton. Sexton being the guy with the most experience in a front office.

Hire the right people to do the right things. Hire hockey people to do hockey things. This team needs A structural change... nothing will change until that happens...

That's just some bad thinking. He's breaking scoring records. If anyone thinks Rasmus Dahlin is the reason the Sabres are bad, you don't watch very much hockey. You would also be the person to trade Hedman after his second year and watch him become a superstar elsewhere. How many defenseman come close to what he did at 18? The answer, 0. He's going to be a star. Larkin would be great, but not at the expense of Dahlin and the Redwings would be getting the league on the phone before our GM hung up the phone to not let him reconsider if it was ever offered.

11 more points on a much superior team, so, he is better. Individuals only matter the team does not. I understand. I think????

His "scoring records" will be shattered in years to come when a real generational D Man comes along. Best players in any sport are reaching their prime much faster than the players at the time of the defencemen that Dahlin is breaking scoring records of. Does that make sense? If not, you get the drift.

wasnt aware that its divided equally which is weird... but i would think merchandise isnt equally distributed.
- hubie

How would u even begin to determine that more revenue is based off us having Dahlin & then give us x amount more money based on that?

Most merchandise sales are also split
Maybe not what’s sold at individual arenas though
But even then,
Ppl would be buying a whole lot of Larkin jerseys

Certainly wouldn’t be a $9mil difference

Makar is two full years older then Dahlin.

At 19 was playing college hockey, Dahlin is on pace to have the 2nd most points ever recorded by a teenage defence man in NHL history.
