Why are you trading are 1st for Jason Zucker
- Buff36

To fill needed spots on a roster fit to make a run at the Stanley cup

Or obviously Crosby called billy G 3,000 times and the deal had to be made. You knew it was serious at 3,000

Zucker is a good player on a great contract. 5.5 a year for 3 more years is a steal they way contracts are now.

Seriously for them Pittsburgh, maybe. But are 1st this year you would have given up for Zucker.

Is Zucker really worth that type of haul?
- rmiethaner

That’s the price to make a hockey trade in season I guess. Zucker is signed through 22/23 so it’s not your typical rental move. Scores well analytically and we know he’ll have his numbers inflated big time playing with Crosby/Malkin.

Addison has the look of a top 4 RHD he’s having a really good year and was probably Pittsburgh’s best prospect. Wild get another crack at the first round in a deep draft. Galchenyuk is for cap purposes and could even be flipped again.

Yes, for a team that can absorb the cap, but it's better to add to Ristolainen to get a true impact forward.

How much longer should we wait for 1st round picks ? or picks in general. It
s been years now, how much longer should we wait.

It's a good deal for Pittsburgh. Probably a low first for a solid player.

I like it for Minnesota too. They're my other team. Theyre finally being honest about where they are. I could see a wildcard trade of Suter with a bit of salary retained this year.

Again, no way in any world is this going to happen. And because we do not have a good team, Dahlin has not progressed enough and will forever hold onto Cale Makar's (who is very good) jock strap.

Is that it or did I miss something?

We should definitely consider moving the 2021 first rounder.

There is a huge difference though between moving a top 8 pick than moving a pick that will be in the 25-31 range.

Point was really meant to be about Sam's next deal. A lot of posts suggesting Sam should get 1.5m more than Larkin, yet almost everyone would say Larkin is the better player.
- Lunaion

How are you making that comparison with zero context?

If Larkin signed his deal in August of 2019 instead of August 2018, do you think Larkin is still taking $6.1M per? Hell no.

Where will the Sabres be picking in 2021? Most would assume the top 10, but if JB feels this team will be picking 25-31, maybe he can get more?

A little different with a 1st in the later first then one that could be in the top 8.

I’d still consider giving up a lotto protected 1st this year in a package for the right player...

The cap will go up a couple percent, not really news to anyone. I've taken a deeper look at comparables before. This just came up because people are obsessed with Larkin lately.

He would be a perfect 2C for us. Young and could jump up to 1C if anything were to happen to Jack. He could help Skinner immensely.
