The Sabres defensive depth, especially on the coveted right side, was supposed to cause other teams to come crawling to us with favorable trade proposals.

i bet the only d men he is willing to give up are the ones no one wants. people aren't clamoring for bogo and mccabe. hell scandella who has been better than both of those got us a whopping 4th rounder.. He needs to entertain trading montour or risto to get anything.

Bogo for bjustead! - bogo can press box it in PGH for the playoffs as the 7

McCabe for Bennett.

Who can we give up for Anderson in Columbus and the disgruntled Finn in Edmonton...

I would rather they go for futures and just clear up the cap space at this point.

True, but you're not getting that body for either McCabe or Bogosian. There is no sense in bringing back any sort of roster player for them at this point, unless they're a throw in as part of a bigger deal, which is also unlikely.

I think you have to do both. I’m tired of futures. If you can add a couple pieces to help now, while cleaning some cap. That has to be the approach.

Anderson could be that Beast 3RW. 6’3”. 191. 25 and an rfa.

The disgruntled Finn 6’4” 193. 21.... the ultimate boom or bust.

Puts: Samson, Big Finn and Anderson on the right.

Puts: Skinner, Olo, mojo on the left...

And I bring bjustead up just to piss people off.

Would still need to fix the center. But could Bennett hold a 2c spot for a year? See if it clicks?

Jack, Bennett... Larry? ... Lazar? ...Asplund?

Smart move by Beane renegotiating star's contract.

See my last post above. They still have cap space they need to clear out to absorb rookie bonuses this year. With this disaster of a season, there is absolutely no excuse not to go into next year with as much cap space as allowed by the CBA. Neither McCabe nor Bogosian get you a player worth anything. It should be a non-roster asset in return. If you want to trade Ristolainen or Montour for someone, that's a different conversation, but it had better be for someone on a lesser contract.

I like how you’re thinking creatively here.

But I’m somewhat less than certain JB is thinking this creatively. I’d expect him to be thinking along the lines of “re-sign some guys already here, and bring up
some guys from Rochester.”

The NHL doesn't allow you to rework contracts like that, however. It's not exactly an apples to apples comparison.

You're not getting him in any package that involves McCabe or Bogosian, though.

Go trade Risto and your first to Oilers for RNH throw in Mitts if you have too, has 2 years left on 6 Million contract. Resign him for 7 x 7.50-8 large.

Then sign Taylor Hall in FA 7 x 10

Rhino, Eichel, VO
Hall, RNH, Skinner

you could be looking at 180-200 goals right there.

9 UFAs.
9 RFAs. To decide on.

There are 4 forwards signed after this year. Mojo at $4.5 has one year left. Jack and Skinner, the albatross who should be LTIR for years, the other 3

Miller Risto with two years left. On the backend.

Cap is tight now... not as tight at seasons end... you can add while subtracting...

And, again, I don't dispute that. However, McCabe and Bogosian don't get you anything worth adding, unless they are throw-ins. You're better off getting whatever futures you can for them, because that's all they're worth.

Forgive me Botterill, for I have sinned. I have committed the mortal sin of Impatience. As penance, I’ll say 100 Hail Jasons, chew 100 pieces of gum in honor of St Phil, and sacrifice a pile of misspelled bootleg retro sweaters upon an overturned nacho table.

I’ll be happy to send some picks, prospects, and roster players to make things happen.

Lotto protected first. Mitts. Monte or Risto, maybe Pilut... it doesn’t have to be just the scraps for whatever. Obviously you have to add... you can still do both with the Bottcoin on hand...
