Well here's my 2 cent, Rhino a good hockey player, he plays with Jack he's a 60 pt player, could hit 70. Without Jack he's a 45-50 pt player.

The divide on Sam is funny. His harshest critics think he's a 6m player. His biggest fans think he's a 7.5m player, and balk hard at any suggestion of giving him an 8yr@9m deal.

I'll give away a mid 20 goal scorer on a line with arguably the best passer in the game. Someone who already sat out with a self serving opinion during a contract year.

Listen, if it's an upgrade we could get on Sam, I would help pack his bags. But I think where I'm coming from is I'm not going to say he's the biggest problem on the team or that shipping him off for futures will make the Sabres better now. Call it not a skill, but taking a beating in front of the net and tipping pucks in isn't exactly easy. Vanek made a living off that.

I think it's only fair to take a hard look at this core.

What else can we say?

I disagree with you, but you brought up some valid opinions. You live in south Dakota, and clearly haven't seen sam play 150-180 times live over the past 5/6 years? You know the 90% of the game that the tv doesnt show you?

Couldn't careless?

Which would mean you do care?

I could careless about your opinion of sam, but thought I would leave it as amibical as possible for chat room?

A 2nd line 45-50 point player?

Interesting. I've been told he could replace pasta or Marchand in boston, or any other top nhl line.

Are you happy with the present sabres?

If not, improvements are needed.

Cant blame dahlin, cozens , joker , skinner or eichel for the past 6 years of losing. Since the 2014 draft.

- Boss34

He's not untouchable but considering the organization only has Tage Thompson as a RW prospect that's anywhere near considered a top-6 RW prospect, I dont see how trading him would help. Teams dont usually trade good centers for good wingers, which is the only thing I would consider.

I would entertain a Reinhart for Trocheck type deal with pieces added, but it would have to be followed up with a Risto for a RW trade. That's why I proposed the idea over the summer of Trouba and Ehlers for Risto and Reinhart.

Reinhart is good, but not untouchable. He's one of our 6 good players

Vanek was really good at tipping and taking a beating.
How does that apply to Sam?

Some people think he takes a beating in front of the net. I think he works really hard to avoid contact there. He's certainly effective tipping pucks, but he's not a guy battling for position there with any regularity.

You really do have to give to get in an nhl trade most of the time.

At some point we need new faces. Is it Sam's fault we suck? Maybe? Could we really be worse than 24th place without him? Probably not?
Especially if we got a good player that added something else to the Sabres.

Grasping at straws to defend a guy with solid statistics.

Better than purchasing a soda with no straws ?

This is the same thing I heard for 10 months about ROR: "Hes not the problem, but hes not the solution either."
I'm not a fan of blaming the few good players we have because the rest of the team sucks ass.

That said, if someone wants him as part of a 2C deal, I'm taking the call

It's a good question. If you just pay attention to the scoring plays, you build a very different impression of guys.

Weird that I never said that, and in fact, said the opposite. Sorry I didn't list every winger that he wouldn't replace. I also never said he was a 50 pt player max either. You do you man.

I like risto and McCabe. Risto a bunch. Probably my second favorite sabre, after john jack.

After the past decade of losing , gotta look at these guys also. The core is rotten

People here are funny:

Insert 2C option : gally, bjugstad etc.

“Oh they aren’t good enough”

Well currently our centers outside of Eichel are lazar Erod and larsson. Keep Lockport in Lockport on the 4th line

Saying that Erod and lazar are better than (insert replacement player) is comical.

Then blaming skinner for a poor season is also funny. He’s had god awful linemates

I wanted ror gone. Thought he was part of the problem.

What he did in st. Louis, wasn't what he was doing/ or going to do here in the b-lo.

I could be wrong on sam also.
Who can we trade to get good new faces?

If Tampa calls at the draft and offers Cirelli (maybe +) for Reinhart and Mittelstadt, I'd do it. But it has to be coupled with moving a d man + for a good RW because we have almost literally nothing at that position.

I'm also completely fine with keeping him, because we have very little talent

Instead of having to give up some of our own good, young assets by trading with another team, wouldn't it be nice if we could actually draft well? Our drafting has been brutal for far too long. A random monkey could have drafted Eichel or Dahlin. Outside of Olofsson, what draft pick has truly exceeded expectations?

Bjustead. Cause it annoys people
Gally. For the same reason

Bennett could be an interesting option. Been stuck in the bottom 6 with the Flames. Maybe a change and shot at 2c gets him rolling. He’s got the grit from all accounts.

Skinner. Bennett. Mojo.

I’d also send a decent package to the Habs for Domi. Rumor is Weber could be done... monte + for Domi? Of course it’s in division and with minny putting 2 d men on the block, I’m sure this is nothing more than a pipe dream. But it’s still fun to dream...

The only one I think you could even make an argument for is Ullmark, taken in the 6th round

Why not keep him and acquire the desired talent?
Why create another hole...just because he didn't sign your friends daughter jersey?
ERod tries hard, gives good effort, maybe JCraig would sell you his Jersey'
ERod probably signs it too.
