Reality is that Edmonton has 1 game on us and is 1 pt behind. Reality is that if we were in the east, we wouldnt even be in the playoffs right now. Pom poms are bad for breakfast

Lol. "Reality is" we aren't in the East, and the team is performing/in a better position than most everyone thought they would be in. They have time to readjust....

Seems to be a lot of "snowflake" comments get thrown at the pom-pom crowd but the realists seem to get just as butthurt.

The Canucks definitely lack backbone, but outside of Boston and maybe Washington no team consistently plays that way. Calgary just got read the riot act by their coach so of course they came out with a chip. We've seen it happen before with the Canucks.

I do think this is a coaching/culture issue though. It's something they're really going to have address and instill. Especially this stretch and (hopefully) into the playoffs.

Pettersson gets knocked out by a cheap/late hit and misses a game (no reaction)
Fantenburg gets a concussion from a high/questionable hit and the guy who responds is a call-up and then sits the next game.
Petey gets harassed literally all game, and he is the one to give it back, no reaction from anyone else.
I think a coach has a responsibility to prepare his players, but ultimately the players have to do the work and have to create the proper culture. Miller is the only one trying to establish that

I liked the trade day 1. That’s a question for the whiners who thought trading the 1st was so invaluable. As for perspective our fan base is an embarrassment when it’s not going great.

Punish the betas via press box/demotion/waiver. Establish players like miller and go out and get them.

Why is LE still a canuck, look at what boston did with Backes... look at andrew ladd in NYI
Why is schaller still a canuck.
Why hasnt beagle seen the press box once
Bailey has 3 hat tricks, macewen drops the gloves with foligno and then sits the next game.

- Codes1087

Still have to be able to play the actual hockey part of the game. Finding tough physical capable hockey players is hard to do.

There is no reason why LE should be a Canuck still is correct.

Natural progression took a big step forward this season for some Canucks players.

The vets are having bad seasons again.

Schaller less points in more games and a worse plus minus this year.
Beagle less points and a worse plus minus so far.
Eriksson would have been on pace for less points somehow.
Benn was a plus 15 in MTL last season and -6 with Canucks.

I want this team to make the playoffs but I think selling off expiring assets if good deals come in and vet presence should also be sold.

I think it's both coach and players. Some one must be telling them to stand down. There is no way they can have so many PETA supports on one team. This 'get them with the power play' mantra is pure beta cowardice.

I want them to make the playoffs too, but I also want them to grow a backbone and be a team. Not get pushed around and not allow the league to know before they play us what they can get away with.

I can honestly see it being both. Green has been vocal about points being more important than retribution.

But when I see guys like sutter, LE, boeser, stecher, pearson, fantenburg, schaller, gaudette, none of these guys are notorious for even hugging a guy in a scrum.

I agree, not arguing with anyone about the lack of response from the team. It starts with the culture of the room, and TG instilling in them a push back mentality, but like you said it's ultimately the players who have to carry that out.

Honestly, I love Bo, I thought he was going to make a good captain, but man he needs to step up and hit people. Start poop after a whistle. It's not enough to score and be defensively responsible, you gotta lead people into battle.

I also question how much TG has told them not to hit on the forecheck. They always go to tie the guy up and win a puck battle, but it's easy to pass out of with no repercussions.

TG needs to make adjustments and I think JB has got to make a statement. Having a healthy line up would drop some players to the minors.

Sending LE and Schaller to the minors and keeping Bailey and Zac Mac would save almost 500K on the cap.

100%

Nastiness is a forgotten concept that hasnt been with the canucks since kesler left. If virtanen crossed check gryzleck in the face after taking out petey for his dirty hit, I'd applaud him

I wouldnt do it for the cost savings, that would just be a slight bonus, I'd strictly do it for the culture change

That's why I dont criticize lefty for wanting skilled players that also have snarl (wilson, kane, jamie benn, etc). They are a rare commodity these days. You're either an energy guy who can barely play or you're a skilled player and cant hit or fight lol.
