I see we've mysteriously dropped the Flyers from the "I told you so" posts, though.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think either side really won that offseason debate. Sure, the Rangers and Devils aren't Metro powerhouses, so that was obviously off. But the main point of that argument -- that the Isles needed to improve because the division and conference would be more competitive -- was right. The Isles have an identical record as last year after 53 games, but they're not in as comfortable of a position in the standings... ... ...because it's tougher this year since the teams around them are better. The fact that it's not specifically the Rangers and Devils knocking on their door won't really be any kind of consolation if the Isles find themselves hanging on by a fingernail down the stretch here.

As far as the rest of the post yes agreed. I think anyone’s point was more along of the lines of the other teams at the very least trying to improve while we’re sitting here status quo. The Devils being aggressive and adding Subban(who could’ve pictured him having the season he has?)and to a lesser degree Simmons.
Rangers trades are starting to reap some dividends while they also won the Panarin sweeps. Can’t always be on the sidelines at some point you have to jump in with both feet.

I don’t remember where the Flyers were in the Metro equation or I would have included them.

The Metro is very competitive but honestly the same teams are carrying the PO positions for the most part not the ones that made significant changes that we read about on here daily over the off season.

I guess when I point the BS spewed on here ( not saying by you)once and a while it stings

Yeah, it's tight. The Isles need to go 16-13 down the stretch to hit 100 points. That should be enough and is certainly doable. It probably won't get them home ice.

Yeah they would have to revert back to the way they were playing. Certainly possible but it’s becoming increasingly less likely with every game they play like the other night. They need to start playing a more complete game and find some consistency.

Capitals are arguably the most physical squad in the Metro, so I can kinda see where Trotz is going with this.
