Problem is that the Isles don't have a ton of "middling" prospects. They have a lot of high-risk, high-reward kids that are probably worth infinitely more to the Isles than they are to another team who would be inheriting the risk of them not panning out.
I don't really think they can afford to part with Wahlstrom for a rental. I'm not opposed to moving anyone else that falls into the "prospect" category, but I don't think anyone else really has much value.
Wilde may be a stud of an offensive defenseman, but he's going to take quite a bit of developing.
Iskhakov has a ton of skill and is having a nice season at UCONN but he's tiny and he's going to be a top-six-or-nothing kind of guy.
Holmstrom is really young and adjusting to the pro game, which is totally fine, but hasn't done much of anything and has continued to see some of the injuries that were red flags to a lot of teams during the draft.
Would you do a 2nd and Koivula? I can see arguments on both sides for that one.
I would love to see the Isles go after Kase/Labanc/Blake Coleman (who's got one more year under contract at a measly $1.8M)/Josh Anderson (who I think would be an amazing fit but his injury history scares me)/Palmieir/etc... Those are guys I'd pay more for instead of throwing a bunch of assets at a rental that may or may not be worth it for a few months. - eichiefs9
No way I move Wahlstrom for a rental. How soon before Iskhakov can be in Bridge? The problem is the Isles need home run forward talent and I do not see where that is coming from? |

maybe we shall see JHS since he's been on a little roll lately i've heard - Hell_Bent
The funny part is they will bring him up and healthy scratch him for a bunch of games like AHO and send him back down. I am curious to see if he loses him mind. (although if called up he makes a LOT more $$) |

COLUMBUS, Ohio ā Blue Jackets defenseman Seth Jones is facing surgery after suffering a fractured and sprained right ankle in a 2-1 loss to Colorado on Saturday.
General manager Jarmo Kekalainen said Jones will have further testing before his surgery is scheduled.
āHeās out for a while,ā Kekalainen told The Athletic on Monday.

I canāt see them calling him up I believe that ship has sailed or I should say I hope it has. Itās not like heās tearing up the ahl and in all honesty I wouldnāt care if he was. Time to move on from that kid. |

Failing to see how thatās a downer way of looking at the Ho Sang situation? He has pretty much done nothing in the AHL and didnāt work out in the NHL and now back in the AHL he gets a couple of assist and heās āon fireā. Give me a break talk about overhyped. He refuses to be coached and thinks heās just the greatest player in the world on top of all of this. I think itās funny how his name constantly surfaces like heās going to come back to the nhl and save us with all of his other worldly talent that he tells everyone he has. The kid sucks thereās nothing to prove otherwise. |

I can't believe people think he will ever wear the Isles sweater again. The only reason Lou took him back was because he basically begged his way back through Lou's son |

Would be nice to just trade him even if it's for another teams prospect that is not working out. Just to move on already. No idea why we do not see more trades like this or move bad contract for bad contract type trades? |

They can sign him whenever the team and him can hammer out a deal. My guess is he'll play his junior year at UCONN next year and then maybe sign, unless he wants to take advantage of the NCAA loophole and be a free agent after his senior season. |

Love to have Palmeri on this team. Think he would be a good fit and heās a local guy so he may be on board with it. Heās worth a first plus imo. Anyone we draft in the most likely 20-26 range we would be hoping they develop into a Palmeri like player. That to me makes me feel better about giving up a first especially since we get another year of him at a decent contract. I can see the Devils dealing with us we donāt have the same rivalry with them even though itās intradivision or I should say itās at least more likely than a trade with the Rangers whatever that amounts too. - Cptmjl
Yeah, I'm not against spending some bigger assets here (including our 1st rounder and/or Wahlstrom) but it can't be on a rental. |
