2nd round pick? Wtf? - ziggy_skalica
Eh, whatever. Trade all the damn picks if you have to
I just hope this isn't it. Team really needs a shot in the arm at forward. I'd say trading that pick for D makes a bit less sense if there's no other move. If they bring in a forward by the deadline, then burning a pick to shore up the D isn't a bad move. I didn't think it was necessary a couple of weeks ago, but it's hard to look past the fact that Boychuk's been on the ice for like 960 goals against over the last few games. He needs to see fewer minutes, and it's becoming clear that that's not happening with Dobson or Aho as the 6th D. |

He’s definitely a Trotz style defender.
I don’t like how much Lou paid to get him, but I’d bet he thrives in this system. - Wildschwein
Second rounder means nothing as far as the team making the POs. |

Guy plays 20 minutes a night and can still play. The Islanders need help in the D zone. Pelech’s injury has taken its toll on the d as Dobson just isn’t cutting it.
You want second rounders or do you want to make the POs this year? - nyisles7
again, my point is about the asset of possibly getting a better player, regardless of what he is in NJ, there's prob a better options of players obtainable for a 2nd rd pick then a 37yr old |

True. I just think a 3rd should have sufficed.
Okay with the move overall. |

If The Devils would have taken a third, why would Lou pay a second. Sounds like the Leafs were looking into Greene as well. He’s 37 but we need help now until Pelech gets back and then The 7 can battle for ice time. He still has game, I don’t hate it at all.
But the D had to be addressed. |

I think it will be Boychucks D partner that will be seeing the press box UIF. It made a hell of a lot of sense as the D has really struggled lately. |

Of course because they get the puck out of the D zone and score goals
(frank)ing Pulock, Leddy and Toews look gassed out there. Something needed to be done. |

I don't want Boychuk to sit. I just think they won't have to lean on him as much with 6D that have the coach's confidence instead of 5 who do and 1 (Dobson) who doesn't. |

Agree. This is a stop gap until Pelech gets back then who’s ever better will play. I think it’s a good trade for both teams looking at where they are at right now.
After watching last night I knew something was going to happen.

Who and for what. Don’t just nix or mock the deal tell us who’s available and at what cost that would have been better.

Avg. 20 a night really. He can play on PK and PP smart player and as you said a leader with Cup experience.
In division trade too
Maybe Kreider will be next |

We got more than that for Lovejoy at the deadline last year. Teams overpay for D at this time of year, as old as Andy is at least he’s not Lovejoy, lol. |
