Certainly interesting. He only played one game so I have a hard time believing they’re just sending him back with Cizikas still out.

It's possible that they're just calling up Koivula or another forward. Not saying that's what I think, but it's not out of the question.

Probably not. I'm not holding my breath for Pageau or Toffoli. My money would be on someone like Nate Thompson or a similar player

My personal feeling is hes making another move, acquiring a defenseman who doesnt score by itself only fixes one issue. He helps the team stay out of their own end and solidifies the backend which they really need in the post season. If they cant trust Dobson now then hes definitely not seeing icetime in the playoffs. Now if this is all they do and they cant score then they just threw away a 2nd for a rental, however if they add a scoring piece up front then they would have a chance at a round or two. This is the logic I'm using here

Agreed, this move alone doesn’t move the needle. This trade with an addition of a top 6 forward makes more sense. Without it to me it’s a waste of a 2nd round pick. I’m having a hard time seeing that happening though. hopefully I’m wrong.

Have to agree. Greene will not be enough. Greene and some sort of scoring forward and Lou did his job.

#Isles Barry Trotz said he expects Andy Greene to fill in for many of the things Adam Pelech did.
A left-handed shot who's solid defensively and can play on the penalty kill.
Allows Trotz to have three righty-lefty D pairs again after righty Noah Dobson was playing his off-side.

Yeah I theorized exactly this in a few posts recently. Of course it helps our back end we shall see just how much of an impact Greene will have but ultimately we’ve had issues scoring for a couple of seasons now. We’ll see how or if Lameriello plans on addressing it.
