Gee Devils fans why don't you trade your two best wingers so your team can stay in the basement for another 5-7 years. Hmm you almost had me sold.
This team made the playoffs two years ago. It took a miracle MVP performance from Hall but still. Trading consistent talent for maybe prospects and late picks is almost guaranteed to set you backwards. - devilspep

Hire Fitzgerald and Gallant.
Trade Vatanen and Simmonds.
Let Domingue, Rooney and Hayden walk as UFA.
Try to rid selves of Schneider's contract (hate saying that).
Keep Palms and Pickles as they are the veteran leadership you need (along with Zajac.
Consider bringing Greene back as 6th D-man 1 year 1.5 million.
Listen to offers on Wood and Butcher but only trade if it is a solid deal. |

Why would Shea retire?
Est. Earnings (15 seasons) salary$46,831,000 bonus$68,000,000 TTL$114,831,000
I think he'll be fine leaving ~12M on the table
EDIT: sorry 18M |

Whats your plan for having a successful team? Palms is everything you want in a contender or a rebuilding team. Hes a top line RW that plays hard, isnt soft, and is 28ish. He has plenty of years left. Palms, Coleman and Zajac are our only forwards over 24 except for Gusev and hes still learning the NHL. Icing a rebuilding team with one or 2 guys that know how to NHL isn't the smartest. Palms and Coleman are good leaders AND can pot 25-35 goals. |

I haven't browsed these forums much in the last few months, but what's this narrative for them having no direction? Yes, they probably should hire Gallant, but who's to say they won't? They've already showed intent to let the kids play when regulars go down and probably will double down after the deadline.
Just because we don't know what's gonna happen or that they haven't done anything yet doesn't mean they won't or they don't have a plan. Fitz is still a respected presence in the league and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. - willschulme
OK, so ownership fired Shero because they wanted to 'win now' but hasn't made one single change other then to put Fitzy in charge (temporarily) who has done Richard. Which is what he did behind the bench with Hynes when Hynes supposedly asked him to be there.
We have a guy who couldn't run our defense running our team. You know just temporarily. We've sucked for years and have had among the smallest payroll in the league. Our big free agent acquisition was a washed up Wayne Simmonds. If we don't draft 1AO we get an underperforming player. We traded Hall without ever offering him a contract on a deadline we made up for an underwhelming package.
This team BLOWS and is turning into a laughing stock. And your argument is just because I don't know what the plan is doesn't mean there isn't one. Hey, news flash. IF we had a team manifesto on hockey operations it's same complete goat (frank) of a team.
And what the (frank) do you mean "we've already shown the intent to play the kids when the regulars get hurt?" What's the alternative and how's that a plan? Our regulars who are among the worst team in the league are being replaced by AHLers who can't make the team out of camp.... but we will be a better team soon because..... pure (frank)ing magic?
If this isn't what a directionless, rudderless, goat (frank) of a team looks like, I don't what does. But yeah. They probably have a plan. Maybe it says something insightful like "suck less and win more" or "build thru the draft" or whatever. It's not (frank)ing working. |

Save the rant for after the trade deadline. The team hasn't done anything? They fired their coach and GM and named replacements as interim. I'd say the team made a clear decision to change their direction as they were not willing to wait on Shero's plan or Hynes lack of success.
Obviously there will be a new decision maker in the GM chair and, most likely, a new coach. There are some big fish out there and we look to have 2 picks in the top 15. We may not be as close as thought over the summer, but with the youth and talent coming, some experience behind the bench, once we get there we'll be there for a nice 10 year stint!

He stinks. Isles would be willing to give you a stud locker room presence, agitator, and quadrilingual beast in Leo Komarov for him. You can thank us later. |

The team went from a great off season to a rudderless mess without a real head coach or GM. Nas has done a better job then expected but someone should have been begging Gallant to take over 10 minutes after he got fired by Vegas Golden Tights.
Can't believe ownership fired Shero but seems to have no plan. - Queenie_5_hole
What is the common factor between the Devils mess and the dysfunctional Philadelphia 76ers? Joshua Harris is a terrible owner |

I think that if the surgery can fix what ails him but leaving him at risk for further injury then he can't go on LTIR but he might choose to not risk any further damage and retire. |

Not sure if I’m ready to part ways with Komarov. We haven’t had a player take the temperature of the room like that since Boulton. |

Yeah, every year it's wait until next year....
Firing your coach and GM doesn't make you better until you hire BETTER REPLACEMENTS. I'll have a new rant after the NY Rangers get a better return for Chris Krieder then we got Taylor Hall.
What youth and talent is coming up? Ty Smith who was a complete mess in training camp is going to fix the D??? Mikey McLeod who couldn't beat out Kevin "AHL" Rooney for 4th line center?
Enjoy the Kool-Aid. This organization is a disaster.

True that.
The Devils were just an add on to the stadium they wanted.
They suck as owners... but yeah, love marketing hope.
Payroll doesn't lie. We are operating like a small market team while Prudential makes MILLIONS and they had IZOD Center shut down! |

Nice job Ek. Weber 4-6 weeks ankle sprain.
So glad Weber didn’t join the long list of careers cut short by a sprain. Praise the lord |

Coward gave me a 24 hour ban for telling him to proof read his 'work'. Because he averages about one spelling or grammar mistake per paragraph.
Also, I called him a poopy head. And I guess that hurt his feelers. |
