Any nerds know the cap situation in regards to Ferland? If he is on LTIR vs retiring etc? Can’t see him retiring |

He literally concussed himself by skating. I don't think he has much of a hockey future any more. Last year and this year have been concussion filled so you have to wonder if this is the last straw. |

LTIR is described here: https://www.capfriendly.com/ltir-faq
It looks like the team just gets MF’s 3.5M salary as an allowance, net of their current cap space, above the cap. If he really is unable to play again, I believe he will just stay on LTIR and it will be an insurance payout for the team. Don’t know why he would retire and give up the remaining salary, but then I didn’t think Lou would do that either!

Wow.
Kyle Connor from the top of the blue paint just missed two open nets. One he directed back into Dell and the other he directed and hit the post.
Boeser would have put one of those in.

My understanding is that it simply turns in to “uncounted money” for cap purposes during the season. It is a little more complicated, and certainly the $salary continues to be paid (not sure about $bonus). Even retirement wouldn’t appear (to me) to cause a problem, because it isn’t back-diving.
For an example, see TML Clarkson, David (insured contract, on LTIR) or TML Horton, Nathan (ditto).
Where they are F*d is if JB uses the cap relief to go sign another LE. |

Dang. That sucks for him.
Shut it down for his sake.
He was a UFA signing. So. Nothing gained, nothing lost sitting on LTIR.
Simmonds for Schaller and a 4th.
4th liner and PP2. |

Ok thanks. But if he retires we are golden and If wants to keep collecting salary and go on LTIR we are (frank)ed right? Then we only get relief during the season |

Sure Give Schaller away if possible but
Simmonds sucks don’t waste a pick on him
Bailey or ZacMac can accomplish the same thing except are better, cheaper, faster |
