It's because it's common knowledge at this point, also people tend to talk about the game more post game than the bigger picture. Most of the time on any thread or any podcast etc it's all about the need for defense and how Freddie stands on his head, it's been like that for years.

Since the Leafs made a coaching change they have the 4th highest pts% in the NHL. Unfortunately, #1 is Tampa and #3 is Boston.

How many goals against since Keefe took over?

It's funny how people like to twist the stats because since Keefe took over, the goalie SV% has dropped. Andersen has been a consistent .917% the past few seasons and basically their MVP every year in a row since he showed up. And yet, new coach takes over and his SV% drops. Why? Because the new coach gives zero (frank)s about defense and his team tries to win every game 5-4.

Much like Tampa Bay that was #1 in PTS% last year, they lost in the playoffs because their style wasn't playoff suitable (just like the Leafs today). The team that beat them, the Blue Jackets, lost a bunch of high quality players and they're still a playoff team. Why? Because they're a team that works very hard and just lacks skill.

And who ends up winning the Cup? A team like St. Louis; a team that has both hard work and high end talent.

I like the Coleman trade for both teams.

Tampa Bay needs another 20 goal scorer like JFK needed another hole in the head. They basically traded two 1st round picks for Coleman. Would have figured they'd spent those resources on more D.
