People ignore when Leafs fan admit that the team basically poop the bed in the 3rd.
I think we all know that the onus is still on the Leafs. They got a bad call, got a bad break, but they need to sack-up and go out and get it back. There was plenty of time yesterday to recover from a bad call. They turned it into a mess.

"I just don't get this "ifs" thinking. It happened. You gotta deal with it (like other teams do) instead of folding up like a cheap suitcase. Get some fuucking balls and play the game. Lots of excuses everywhere if you look for them."
This is exactly what I wrote last night. It wasn't leaf-friendly enough.

What? So getting tackled on a breakaway isn't as much of a penalty as a hold on cycle?
If anything using your speed and skill in the open ice and getting fouled makes it more blatant and easier to call penalty against.
The league is deliberately ignoring penalties in so as to allow weaker teams to play defensively and commit penalties without calls so that they can artificially stay relevant for longer to keep interest in the poopty team city.
The league needs to call the rulebook the way it should be. A penalty for one team is a penalty for any other team. A penalty in the first is a penalty late in a tied game. The rulebook does not say to change how you call penalties based on the score. - burn
I heard the same thing back in 1995 when the Devils were basically water skiing on Yzerman and Fedorov. Hudson Bay rules hockey in the playoffs. Eventually the Wings had to change their approach and give more ice time to grinders like McCarty, Draper and Lapointe to compliment their stars. Then they started winning Cups. Point being you can't wait for the refs to win games for you. |

"If" Barrie doesn't (frank) up on the first goal its a different game.
"If" Freddy has a bad game that game is a blow out.
A game is full of "ifs" and bad reffing shouldn't be excused for it, neither should bad defensive play. |

The werent good enough for the first half, then battled back to tie it. They looked like were starting to turn it on and they had the rug pulled out from under them. They should have buckled down and kept working to try to get back even, lots of time. But they didn't they looked shocked and upset at the calls and they let Buffalo walk in 2 more times in like 30 sec. 5-2. Game over.

Leafs excuses.
Raps, next man up. Raptors fight through injuries just as bad and refereeing notably bad. They may not win again but they play like they are defending champions. |

Freddy fought hard for that tie game. He is part of this team.
showing frustration towards a horrible call in a tie game in the middle of the 3rd period is perfectly normal.
No excuses just frustration towards a bad call in a critical part of the game. |

Leafs could use some more smash to compliment their dash but Dubas doesn't believe in that. He's going to keep believing his team can out skill you to victory. Kill you with his power play. I don't agree with it but that's what he's doing. Even Sid Crosby mucks for pucks in the corners scoring ugly goals. I don't believe the Leafs big guns can play this way in the playoffs. So the same result will keep happening. - gergeswillems
Exactly. And to me it's silly to keep thinking it will work when the competition in the div remains the same. |

stop whining.
even if the officials aren't doing fine, all the teams evenly benefit / lose from their bad officiating.
the narrative that leafs lose because of bad officiating is such a pathetic excuse. - plantheparade
Show me in my post where I mentioned anything about the Leafs.

Let's forget this Ref bullpoop and let's start back on the how underwhelming the Leafs defense is at the moment. I've heard the Leafs have enough cap with injuries to spend a good chunk on upgrades. Will they or won't they?? I'm gonna say, it all depends on how well they come out of this batch of games upcoming. They have a chance to pull away from Florida or completely fall out of it. Its totally up o them. |

100% agree. Would also extend this to you can't whine or stop playing when the refs show lack of impartiality.

Who do you want them to trade?
It is a real problem that Johnsson Mikheyev are gone and they had to give up to get a legitimate NHL goalie.
Besides that, they are missing 2 starting Dmen, including their number 1. They had a couple call up forwards and a couple call-up Dmen (compared to the start of the season) in the lineup last night.
It is real bad timing because there isn't much to trade. They don't even have a first (well, maybe not) this year. They aren't trading Robertson.
It is basically Kapanen, who they probably don't want to trade, who is one of the very few players that have any sort of physical edge.
Other than that, Nylander, as much as people don't want to hear it. |

I think there's plenty to trade:
2020 or 2021 1st (likely the latter as I don't see the Leafs being bottom 10)
2022 1st
Kerfoot
Johnsson (LTIR sure, but still an asset that could be attractive for bottom dwellers)
Kapanen (agreed, would like to keep him... nice combo of semi-sandpaper and speed)
Dermott
SDA
Bracco
Marchment
Korshkov
Timashov
Goat
Aberg
Brooks
Kivilhame
Perhaps a few unattractive options in there (and RFAs) but they could be nice fillers in a package deal.
There's no reason the Leafs couldn't land a guy like Manson, Dillon, or *insert gritty defender here* and a power forward (Simmonds please). |
