with what Tampa did, you would think the trade market will be expensive.

Flyers need to stay out unless it is a clear cut win for them

- wcorvette

with these prices someone might pay 2 2nds for raffl again TRADE HIS WORTHLESS ASS

The Isles gave up a 2nd round pick and a prospect for Andy Greene. Ridiculous.
- MJL

Seems pretty comparable to the Braun trade to me.

They lost a top 4 dman to a freak injury, and they need depth on D if they hope to win playoff rounds.

San Jose didn't need him at all. Their defense is great this year.

They will only have him for a few months, so his age doesn't matter unless he's already fallen off a cliff. Which they presumably don't think he has after scouting him.

Agreed. And aside from giving up what I saw as an overpayment (at the time, at least) for Braun, I think all of his moves so far have been good both from a present and future standpoint.

His age does matter. So does only having him for a few months. Both make it not comparable to the Braun deal.

Do the Isles think they are contenders? If so, will they need more than this trade to make a run?

They are contenders to win playoff rounds, especially if they somehow manage to face the Flyers.

Braun is 33, and he cost the Flyers more than Greene cause they got him for a full season. They are both short term trades for veteran stay-at-home dmen.

Hainsey turned 36 a month after Pittsburgh gave up a 2nd round pick to get him from Carolina. Which is another comparable trade.

Braun is a player that the Flyers traded for in the off season, not as a playoff rental. We don't know if the Flyers are going to keep Braun past this season. Still possible.

I agree that the Hainsey trade is a comparable but not the Braun deal. Completely different scenario.

looking at the Pens and the top end of their O line up, they have some $$ tied up and the team is aging, top 6 there are 3 players 27,28 and 28 and 3 in their 30's at 32,33 and 33. A big help that 2 of them are Sid and Malkin.

The Flyers are a little younger, less talented in the top 2 for sure but younger across the board. After that the Flyers are younger across the board on both D and O. Pitt has no 1st, 2nd or 7th next season.

with the way Sid plays I don't see his game dropping at all anytime soon. If the Pens don't win a few rounds I could see them trading Malkin to reload the team. When will these Fkrs go away, I marvel at how they find role players, they plug them in and they produce.

We have been through the Flyers rebuild, you can see players stepping forward, like a NAK, those bottom 6 complimenting the TK's, Provy's etc.

When do you think the Flyers will gel and will it correspond with a Pens drop? Please O please...

When we first traded for Braun it was viewed as just one year plug to ease the young guys in. But after the years he’s had with us, I’d welcome bringing him back On a short term deal. Everyone joked he’d miss his old team Sharks but they are in rough shape this year lol. Now resigning Braun would only happen if some other factors occurred such as another dman being traded or what we decide to do in free agency

They may not have the cap space to do that. I think his roster spot will go to Friedman.

I'd definitely be somewhat open to bringing back Braun in a lesser role for lower money but don't know if he would do that. I don't really want him blocking a younger player including Haag.

raffle, Pitlick, braun and Ghost are their only real moves they can make. You could trade Nak. If you have Patrick and Lindblom coming back you will have to make moves.
