Subban next?
- Wildschwein

Doubtful. Our team sucks but Subban would actually be fine for this team for the rest of his contract.

Also, for those complaining about there not being a plan, I think the plan is clear now. Once Simmonds and Vatanen go, we'll be stocked.
- willschulme

That would be me. This plan seems the opposite of what ownership stated of wanting to win now. Not complaining. Just saying it’s odd.

Also, we now have the smallest payroll in the league!

We are definitely trying to reload here. Really liked Coleman and Greene, but they are really good trades.

I understand why the fans are pissed about trades, but Fitz is doing a good job to turn this thing around in a couple of seasons with a core of really good young players.

I agree. With 3 1st round picks (possibly 4 soon) in a deep draft is good for us long term. I'm happy with what he recieved from these 2 trades.

Seeing Coleman go sucks. Seeing him go from a player nobody expected anything from to an impact player was amazing and I wish that we could have kept him for a long time. But the fact is that Shero tried to turn the corner this year with some of the moves he made and the team fell flat on their face. We weren't even close to playoffs even with Hall and thinking "maybe our prospects will develop and we can make the playoffs" isn't a plan and at best would lead us to be mediocre for a few years before needing a rebuild again. The return for Coleman is great, we basically got 2 1st rounders and Foote, if he develops, is a type of player we sorely need. Greene is tough to see go in a different way, wish we could have build some better teams around him since 2012 but he deserves a chance to chase the cup.

Absolutely! we essentially got 2 1st round picks for Coleman. I am a big Coleman fan, but is inking an extension that starts when he is 30 years old what this team needs? I say no. Nolan Foote is a great prospect, and the fact that we got the Van pick instead of the Tampa pick is a serious bonus. Our 3 first round selections could very well land 1-5th(ours), 10-15th (yotes), 16-22nd (van). Its a deep draft and this is just exciting.

All the best to Coleman. With two playoff runs coming up, I think there is a decent chance you help this club reach the ultimate goal.

We've only had Sal and Greene as captains since, right?

Just saw it’s Vancouver’s first. Time to root for the Nucks to fall like Arizona.
- smellmyfinger

If Vancouver misses the playoffs we lose the pick and we get Tampa’s first next year.

So go Vancouver!

It's still Van's pick either way, it just depends whether they make the playoffs or not as to if its this year or next

So a proper rebuild it is. Eliteprosepcts.com just got a lot more traffic from Devils fans!

Nico, Jack, Bratt, Blackwood, even Zacha are legit NHL players. Foote, Bahl, Smith, and Boqvist seem pretty likely. If we are even 50% on the others we have now (Mcleod, Anderson, Zetterlund etc.), and the players we procure in 20 and 21, we will eventually have a comptitive team.

From this far out its like hoping the vegtable plants that havent even sprouted yet will feed everyone but its looking like we will have plenty of seedlings to go around.

This all leads me to wonder what needs to be done to make the Bing a world class environment to develop our future talent in. All these great coaches available I wonder if an NHL coach would accept a position with an AHL club for a large paycheck.

I almost want them to miss the playoffs, we get 2021 1st, and then Vancouver just gets lit up all year. I can dream, right?

The thing is, Fitz has not even sold his best chip Vatanen. I hope he is health shortly.

Blackwood will be out for back surgery at the end of the season after carrying this team. Allowing 55 shots on goal is pretty terrible, even with the win.

Other than vats who else could be traded? There were rumors that zajav refused to waive his NTC before but wonder if that has changed

Last night Fitz flat out said Zajac wasnt going anywhere, so i doubt Zajac has changed his mind, Vats(depending on health) and Simmonds are likely gone. After those 2, im not sure, i dont think anybody else will be gone. I could see Palms but i doubt it unless we get an offer too good to pass up

We need to quit playing Blackwood. He has made his point. He is our starter next season. Time to audition for his backup, while keeping the tank mission alive.

Most likely to be traded before the deadline:
1. Vats
2. Simmonds
3. Wood
4. Rooney

I could see one of our 1st round picks being moved at the draft for a roster player, but only time will tell.

Who on earth would want Rooney? I don't even think his parents would make a trade to get him.

Why would Vancouver give up their 2021 pick for a player not on their roster?

They weren’t rumors, zajac said straight up he was asked and said he wasn’t willing to go anywhere.

Trade him to Vancouver so they just squeeze into the playoffs and get swept
