To be fair, we can't expect that to continue.. Florida probably realizes that they are in a playoff race too.. - PatC80
Panthers on pace for 86 points since the Leafs hired Keefe.
So now they are just going to decide to stop being bad? |

Iv'e got 14-8 in my mind as the number as well ...BUT, Florida and the Leafs are both capable of poopting the bed and allowing the other to back their way in. I think we're going to have to ride this for the next 6 weeks.
Dubas will do something on the blueline I think. Trouble now is that he keeps losing that trade-able depth upfront to injuries. Some good news on Mikky would be huge. - The Law
Its not the 14-8 part I was trying to emphasize thou. Its if they go 0-3 in the next three games which is a very real possibility. Do you still think Duba's goes for it. I actually want him to, but also don't think he should.

I was going by what the game analyst's were talking about on the broadcast the other night. They said the Leafs would need 15 wins to squeek in. I say 14 because it sounds easier. I'm not making this poop up...

The wild card? Worst case yeah that could be a possibility but they are 2 points up on Florida and hold the tie breaker. That’s a 3 point lead.
14-8? Yeah doubt the Panthers go 16-7. |

Since Keefe was hired
Leafs on pace for 106 points
Panthers on pace for 86 points
But wait “look out if the Panthers get goaltending?”
Leafs SV% since then .900
Panthers SV% since then .901 - Santo_44
Now look at point% vs playoff teams vs point% vs non-playoff teams.
Leafs got a very easy schedule end Nov / dec - last couple of weeks they aren't doing that well.
Not a coincidence - dubas firing Babcock just before a stretch of easier games was very much planned |

Ok, bud... Sure.. Maybe they'll quit lose motivation with only 21 games left |

Perhaps they will continue to be bad, but hanging your playoff hopes on the success or failure of another team isn't the way to go. Leafs need to control their own destiny and learn to play consistently. |

It’s just funny man.
I remember last year when the leafs finished their season badly there were a bunch of people saying the Leafs wouldn’t even make the playoffs despite being 8 points in.
But the Panthers are a tough team to stay ahead of when they have been a bottom 10 team in the NHL since early December. |

That's fine to say, but you can't bring up Florida's record in their last 10 games, and not ours.. Why do you judge Florida based on their last 10, but the Leafs on their last 37?
Our last 10 games, we haven't been world beaters.
I get what you're saying, I do, but have to assume that Florida also wants to make the playoffs. |

They don’t need to.
They just have to stay ahead of a team that has been playing poorly for 3 months. They are up 3 points(tiebreaker).

I’m judging the Panthers on their past 37.
Since the Leafs hired Keefe the Panthers are on pace for 86 points.
Like since that date for the Panthers.
I’m judging them both on the same timeline. Two teams in opposite directions. |

After that I compared the leafs and Panthers in their last 40...never compared the Leafs last 40 to the Panthers last 10. |

Leafs have Pits,Pits,Car next three before deadline. Florida have Ana,LA,Veg,.... It could be a different story soon. Like I said, I still think Duba's should go for it. Can't show this team in anyway what giving up on a season is. |

Freddy currently gets $5M per season, he may want a raise.. I'd guess, he'd ask for a 4-5 year deal for $7.5M per - PatC80
Varlamov wanted a raise too ....he didn't get it. |

I don't think it'll change anything. If Florida had gone 8-2 in their last 10 and was 7/8 points ahead of the Leafs then maybe ....but Playoff hockey is there for the taking so they'll be approaching the TDD with the playoffs in mind. |

Our last 10 games, we are 5-4-1. If we continue to play at that pace, we won't make the playoffs.
All I am saying is that I don't expect Florida to lose motivation.
The Leafs will need to be a lot better than 10-8-2 in their last 20 games to make the playoffs. |
