So great to see these half garbage D going for great prices for two reasons.

1) Leafs weren't stupid and paid for someone that won't really make a difference.

2) Barrie's price just went up which means it's even easier to get a good return on him.

Hopefully they do the right thing and don't shoot themselves in the Richard.

Did anyone see Clifford/Campbell from Dubas? Wasn't even on the radar around here. If Dubas makes a deal it's an unlikely name from what has been rumoured.

But his pattern is easy to figure out; just see who use to play for the Soo Greyhounds and/or he was an agent for.

Don't know that Dubas makes significant move at deadline. Prices are high and the Johnsson and Mikeheyv injuries make acquiring a d-man with term to play in your top 4 more difficult since the likely piece going the other way (Kapanen) is needed on this roster right now.

I agree with the idea there's more available at the draft is an excuse. People also say "might as well trade him at the deadline". Karlsson got a lot of that talk. Eventually you overplay your hand and you're worse off.

To be fair, Barrie never said he wanted 8 million over 8 years. That was a report from Simmons or somebody. It might have been an accurate report but Barrie wasn't the one who publicly said it.

If he becomes a UFA, he'll definitely make at least 6-7. He's got the point totals for it. But he's too expensive and too useless for this team. If we didn't have Rielly, maybe, but we do so he's not nearly as useful to us.

He has a poopty agent if he doesn't get 6+. You think his agent is going to be like "well his whole career in Colorado was just smoke and mirrors and the one year as a leaf in a poop show with Babcock and injured D is the true player you're signing today!"?

Kadri can't get suspended if he's injured.

The Leafs have to go 14-8 at the minimum to sqeek in and that's just a maybe. These next 3 games before the deadline are crucial IMO. If they win all 3 it would be 11-8 and basically .500 hockey the rest of the way, Duba's should then go all in and go for it. If they go 2-1 ya maybe tinker a bit to improve and try and make a stretch drive. But if they go 0-3 and have to go 14-5 the rest of the way. Can anyone see this team mature enough to play almost mistake free .750 hockey down the stretch. Its not impossible but if it came to this I'd rather see them either stand pat or trade off a few assets and hope for the best....
