If I'm being honest, I don't think they have to do that. That reeks of desperation and that's the kind of thing that sets teams back years. Lou needs to be honest with himself and realize that this team is not a Cup contender even if they go land Pageau.

I don't think it gets any better for them next year when their core is on the wrong side of 30. I don't think it's desperate to go for it while the core you've committed to is reaching the tail end of its prime...it's reality. This is the team they have. There's a lot of money tied up in these players, as you've pointed out to us many times, so it's not like they can just hit reset and dramatically change it all for next season. They'll have these same guys and maybe a complimentary piece or two, which is also what they can have right now.

I agree, tough call here go for it and hope it works or throw in the towel and build through the draft. Interestingly lou wont live through a rebuild hes like 85 hes 7s younger brother

Seriously though, I don't really think there is a right answer. I see the arguments on both sides.

I think they need to make some significant changes in the offseason. Maybe it involves trading some older vets while they still have some value and getting the team younger so they can compete longer. I think a lot of this team has been together for awhile and they're getting complacent with things. I'd like to see things shaken up a bit over the summer.

Team is stuck with not great options. The core of this team is not built around high end talent and the prospect pool seems weak.

This has been my point chief. Team is way too comfortable and kept together too long. Lou needs to move what he can in the offseason. Bailey is a must move even for picks and maybe even Casey.

Well, that's probably the only other move that would make any sense...sell and re-tool, whether it's now or in the offseason. But that makes the strategy from this past offseason kind of a weird disaster...like they re-signed all those guys and then showed no faith in them the first time they hit a rut.

Either way, I think the worst thing to do is to keep waiting things out and hoping for a sign from heaven. To paraphrase Mr. Miyagi, walk on one side of the road or walk on the other. Walk down the middle, squish like grape.

When you put it that way, it could be what they call "problematic."

But he makes a very good point about walking in the middle of the road!

Yeah no argument that they need to commit to something. I have my opinions on what that "something" should be, but right now they're just wallowing some sort of indecision purgatory and it (frank)ing sucks.

I don’t think this organization should be moving ANY pivots. There is (frank) all for depth in that position organizationally.

I like Casey but he cannot stay healthy. If they need to play Otto as 4C so be it. Casey is not going to be a long term option with his style of play.

Well now that's just silly. Casey isn't going anywhere. That's a conversation for when he's in the last year of his current deal.

Team is not as good with out Casey in the line up long term.

Schweiner is right, this organization has no business dealing centers. There are too few that are competent.

I could see the 2021 1st and Wahlstrom being in play this summer if the right player is made available. Referring specifically to the guy I mentioned in my last post
