Tonight and Sunday are must wins. Hopefully they use it as a spring board to turn this thing around. Good time to get hot.

Knowing Bossy, he wants to get paid

Can't blame him. The guys from his era weren't paupers, but they certainly weren't paid anything remotely like what today's players earn.

By the way, left unsaid tonight was why Tonelli was traded to Calgary. He was in a contract dispute a couple of seasons after the dynasty years, and his agent and Bill Torrey were at an impasse. So Torrey traded him, even though he was still a pretty good player.

Yup and honestly JS Torrey held on to some of the players to long After the run.
Should have traded them sooner for assists, but with the respect it’s hard to do.

Money will make that happen though

Always tough to trade Hall of Famers. I think there was more loyalty between the players and the teams back then. Also, don't forget that Tonelli wasn't traded for picks and prospects. Calgary nabbed him for Konroyd and Kromm, two unspectacular players.

Yes good point.

Yeah, how do you not look at what the players have done together with a team like that. Hard to trade them after all they have been through.

Looking at current things, Pageau and Kreider still available.

It's a goal. More importantly it's a game leading goal. It's been more than a week since we're seen that!

How about Trottier (my all time fav isle) not being resigned at age 33 after 1300+ pts in 1100 games. Then he goes and wins another cup w Pens as player and coach. We need a B Trots on this team. A winner.

Mine too. It was Bobby Clarke ( yes I was a Flyers fan ) until The isles came into the league.

I played C, I’m guessing with your comment on looking at the Refs hand you were too. unless of course it was your son who told you

There’s a 19 point gap in badness between the wings and Sens? Wow😂

Yup, Trottier in fact won 2 more Cups with the Penguins in the early 90s. I think Bill Torrey's hands were tied somewhat by then owner, Pickett. The Isles always seemed to have financial problems. Torrey had a budget and traded both Tonelli and Lafontaine following salary disputes. After the Isles missed the playoffs in 1989 (?), a decision was made to rebuild the team. I don't think they wanted to pay Trottier what he was worth to a contending team. I don't remember if they tried to trade him.
