Here's my thing about trading Skjei, and to a larger extent Kreider. After a certain point you could be destroying team morale when you trade away locker room guys. Kreider is loved in the locker room and some of these guys have been through 2+ years of guys like Zucc/Kreider/Nash/Stepan/etc being traded away. In a vacuum trading these players makes sense but i wonder if considering how trading these players impacts the team chemistry/morale plays a factor.

I say this sharing the same feeling as many here have about Skjei being bad this year. He's super tight with Trouba and who knows who else.

Edit: this is more of a thought experiment than an actual suggestion/opinion from me on what is best for the team

Rangers trade Hank to Colorado and retain 25% on his contract for a minimal return. Avs go on a nice playoff run. End of season, Colorado buys out the last year of Hanks contract. Can we then resign Hank as an UFA for a cheap, veteran deal?

Or is this considered a cap circumvention and thus forbidden?

That's allowed. I don't think it will happen, but it's allowed. The only team that would be unable to resign him would be the team that bought him out.

I am not saying that we would, I am just trying to figure out a way to possibly lower Hanks cap hit if we were to keep him. Trying to think outside the box...
