Well...I mean we over value him a bit. He can play spot duty in the top 4, but let's not crown him a Marc Methot. He is a 5-6 d man on every other team. Great depth player, but not the end of the world to trade. I think it's an ideal return - AlexBoucher

I know whats going on here. Melnyk is trying to sabotage the team so he can move them to a new arena in Miami. Little does he know WildThing and the other misfits will start winning and win the world series errrr stanley cup. |

Will have to respectfully disagree with this.
He fits comfortably into the top-four of most teams in the NHL, and has proven that he can sit next to a #1 without issue to help balance pairings. His underlying numbers are elite. - Michael_Stuart
We are not competing anytime soon and this is a last place team- he wasn't the savior regardless of his fancy stats. A 3rd round pick for a UFA to be is perfectly reasonable |

Depends on how many touchdowns they can score from beyond the arc. |

If this is how Dorion valued Demelo, I cant see a scenario where he makes out on any UFA.
He was arguably, our 2nd best trade chip.

And this certain UFA is overvalued by the fanbase- we didn't trade Thomas Chabot! |

I thought Demelo would have gotten us a 2020 second round pick or better. This is definitely a disappointment. |

Hey, these are some significant trades. This is the trend I guess. A week before the dead line. This week is going to be fun! |

No, but based on recent trades, a 3rd for DeMelo is ridiculously cheap. Yeah, he's not going to be the difference between missing the playoffs or winning the cup, but he's a good 4/5 guy on a decent roster. They should have at least gotten a 2nd or had a prospect with some upside included. |

Andy freakin Greene got a 2nd and a prospect.
He’s 37
And has a 5m cap hit.
How could you honestly justify this move?
Even in a draft like this, a 3rd rounder is as good as a 7th.
In a league where salaries are determined by how many points you put up..what could he seriously have costed you?
It’s a great sneak move by Chevy |

All I can think is Dorion said, "(frank) it, I'm accepting the next trade call no matter what it is."
As soon as Chevy said, "Hey Pierre, what would you say to---," Dorion cut him off and said, "Fine, fax over the paperwork and I'll have my assistant sign it."
Makes as much sense as any other explanation. |

I agree he is a good player, but I don't think he is more than a 5th- 6th dman on a good team. Greene has more miles, but his reputation probably has a lot to do with his value and the return. And a 3rd comparable to a 7th? I don't know... |

I think he got fair market for sure- I think the issue is people overvalue him as a contributor |

Which, when you look back on it, was Washington exploiting a gap in the market. We can also look at the Jensen trade from last year where Washington sent a 2nd and Bowey to Detroit for a worse player than Demelo. |

So you think 37-year-old Andy Greene is more valuable to a team right now than DeMelo? |

Is it possible that this trade was somehow linked to impending sale of the the team?
It's been impending for several years now according to Spatso so I'm not sure |

Peanuts are an integral part of watching any circus show....que the clowns.
Despite my negative joke directed at Dorion... i will see how the rest of this unfolds and what they will do with mega cap space... something or else were just spinning tires in the mud.
I am still giving them a chance until 2026 |
