People who want Byfield somehow already forget Zacha was drafted for the same reason.
- Pomegrant

In a way sure, but Byfield is more offensively skilled/gifted than Zacha was. Byfield will be an excellent #2 or 3 center for whoever ends up getting him.

it has kind of been universally recognized as a sellers market...

just look at the returns thus far--

I have and with possibly the Coleman trade all the returns have been fair or underwhelming

I really dont think Byfield should be the pick, and hes likely to be gone anyway if they end up picking between 4-5. With all the prospect adds they have made recently, Drysdale needs to be their target. We all saw how fast this horrific defense torpedoed the last two seasons. They've loaded up on hulking defense first guys, and Smith has more of an offensive bent, but Drysdale is the complete package. He provides offense from the back and knows how to play in his own end. People have used Duncan Keith as a comp, which is exactly the type of player they need to fill out this group.

Perfetti wouldnt be a bad consolation prize to keep giving them shooting options to surround Nico and Jack with, but if Drysdale is available they have to grab him.

Drysdale for sure
- shvingter88

For what it is worth, Scott Wheeler over at the Athletic just posted his top 62 prospects, he stated that Drysdale is better than Byram and compared him to Q Hughes skill set, only slightly bigger.

I agree if we're picking 3-5 Drysdale should be our guy, but if we dont get him theres plenty of other fantastic consolation prizes in Stutzle, Holtz, Raymond, Perfetti, Rossi, Lundell. We're gonna be walking away with a solid prospect either way as long as we stay in the top 8-9.

I'm surprised we're all agreeing Drysdale is the guy to pick where we'll be going.

I would keep an eye on Rossi as well. The Devils have no doubt been spending a lot of time with the 67s with Hoelscher, Ohkotyuk, Clarke and Bahl already there.

Drysdale is the complete package-Cmor11794

He's not the complete package he is good offensively but poor defensively.

I guess it just is what it is. We can expect another year like this year next year. Even with the losses, the first half of the year managed to be moderately exciting with the new faces, and then seemingly more excitement under Nas when the depression under Hynes was in full effect. We'll get another top 10 pick next year and hopefully in 2022 this year's picks and guys like Hughes and Foote, even Smith and Bahl, are developed enough to be consistent and useful.

I think the most important move, other than who we pick with the AZ/Van picks, is who we bring in to coach and develop these kids.

Hynes is supposed to be good with kids, we should give him a shot.

In other news, the Bing Devs just keep rolling. Just beat the Marlies and have somehow clawed their way all the back to being just 1 point out of the playoffs. They were double digit points back about a month ago.

It’s pretty rare that a team is loaded with nhl caliber players. I’m sure Rossi is great but maybe we should have a good spread.

Hall and Demelo were the two I agree on but the others I feel that the trading team won.....not by a landslide but if they were going to move them they got a "good" return and that's what in my eyes makes it a sellers market. There have been years were players weren't moved because teams couldn't get anything near what they wanted or had to accept a lesser package but so far this year it seems teams are getting what they want....that is why you see a lot of movement....less movement -buyers market....more movement - sellers market.

Good with kids how?
As a pedophile?

Good how. Is he a clown? Does he (frank)ing amuse them? What's so (frank)ing funny about Hynes.

Heard people are already antsy about how Forsberg is being used under Hynes.

More movers means more targets and more choice for buyers. That’s why the deals have mostly been fair or underwhelming. Rest of deadline will provide more insight and data I guess

The returns have not been underwhelming at all though lol. Outside of the Demelo return, the rest of the trades over the past couple days have been overpayments, whether its slight like the Dillon trade or quite a lot like the Coleman. The market value is higher than expected, and lets be honest, pretty much everybody in the hockey world has acknowledged its a sellers market right now with prices being high.

Makes you wonder what the Devils could've gotten for Hall if they waited.
