yes....thank you
that guy was a beast in the AHL, but was absolutely useless when called up. |

who was the guy that Ottawa had in the late 00's who led the AHL in scoring, a couple of times I think, but was a career AHLer and looked AWFUL the couple of times they called him up................to save my life I can't think of his name. - sensarmy_11
Denis Hamel excellent at AHL level. I said it before & I'll say it again, if Norris doesn't get better without the puck he will never play at center in NHL especially for Smith. I watched the game last night & he was terrible & totally invisible ends up with 2g 1a. Balcers, Abramov carried him in all 3 zones.

granted, I haven't watched any AHL games this year, but I have a very very hard time believing that a player can lead an entire league in scoring being carried 100% by his linemates. if that were the case, why are they nowhere near the top?
I don't expect a 20 year old to be an elite defensive center right away (even Crosby and McDavid struggled in that area the first few years) but the fact that he's producing like he is, at his age, is incredibly encouraging.
not all players have to be elite 2-way players.......if a guys job is to score goals and produce points, then let him do that, and have other players carry the "2-way" load |

I said an NHL center I can see him on W. I've said before that he has an awesome release. He does not compete. He never has puck, he's never on pucks it's mostly standing around & fly byes & park yourself near the goal crease . That has nothing to do with age. He's the invisible man. Is he trending towards being an NHL center.

I’m fine with re-signing him if the deal is in line with his career play, his WHOLE career play, and not heavily weighted on this one outlier year.
4 years, 3.5 mil, or something close to that.....I’d be fine with that. Anything over 4 years, or over 4 mil, and Dorion should be fired into the sun. |

I'd add to that and say Tierney needs to be gone for a pick if Pageau is kept at a reasonable value. |

I went to see the Caps play here in Ottawa about 8-10 years ago, and Ovi literally stood around the offensive blue line half the game waiting for his mates to pass him the puck. It was absolutely sickening to see and I detested him for years because of it. Now Ovi even back checks.
Norris isn't projected to be one of the best goal scorers of all time, but the sentiment remains that he can have success at the NHL level, offensively, while still working on the defensive aspects of his game. But I totally get your point when you compare a center to a winger though.
Long story short; let's just hope this kid keeps getting better and better for us! |

You guys are making me nervous... but I remember the last time Pageau was having a really good year, he was being interviewed between periods, and was asked about his play, and if this meant he was blossoming into a top six center. And his reply was along the lines of, "No. I see myself as a middle six, third line guy."
I don't believe for one second that JG is greedy or has an inflated ego. He is also extremely loyal. His post period interview when Phillips' number was retired, he said, "Phillips helped teach me the right way, the SENS way." He said 'The SENS way' two or three times in that brief interview.... the dude bleeds Sens red!
I was one of the people that thought we absolutely had to trade him this year, and that was before he put up 20+ goals. Now I'm not so sure I feel that way anymore.

Denis Hamel's first season in the AHL - 25pts in 74 games.
Corey Locke's first season in the AHL - 43pts in 78 games.
Josh Norris' first season in the AHL - 58pts in 51 games (so far).
Also, Hamel was a sixth round pick, and Locke was a fourth round pick. Norris = 19th overall. Being ranked that high amongst your peers must surely suggest he has a much higher ceiling. |

No no no
He needs to go.
Contracts aren’t based on previous performances ever.
We signed White for 4.75per.
Pageau starts from there you would assume.
I really like JGP, but the reality is he caught lightning in a bottle at an unsustainable rate.
When this team is ready to compete, these guys will be ineffective..cash in |

Would it be too ambitious for us to hope for LA to pass Ottawa, or is that unrealistic. |

Norris is a top prospect. He has all the tools to be a high scoring W in NHL. I don't think he processes the game like a center. He's got size, skates ok, good hands, sees the ice, has ability to get in scoring position and that wicked, accurate shot that he can release in the blink of an eye. To me right now the centers of future are Brown & Pinto.
PS: Norris will score 40+ goals.

if LA sells off any more pieces (carter, quick, brown, etc) I think they'll end up closer to Detroit than they will to Ottawa......that team is AWFUL |

Anything is possible.
Sometimes pride and knowing the end is near, players like Kopitar, Doughty, and others might get hot. LA did beat playoff bubble team in panthers.
