tough question. lots of good options.
I don't care much if the guy has some GM experience or not, he can always surround himself with guys who do. these days GMs have 2-3 assistants.
I want someone with a vision and leadership. basically someone who will either trade Price and Weber, or fill the holes so they can compete asap, like last week. I don't care which way they go just pick one.
it's hard to list front runners for the job since we only know what we see on tv, but I think Roy and Damphousse could be at the top of the list.

My personnal favorite, an outsider, would be Joe Juenau. this guy is brilliant, maybe too much to be interested in the job.

Damphousse is a former Habs, used to be in the NHLPA, owns a business, is on tv so knows how to talk to media, and most of the time he makes a lot of sense when commenting on the Habs current situation, imo.
