They were going to regardless. There is no doubt that they have bad contracts and they will be moved.

Thinking that Eriksson will retire is like thinking Luongo would never retire. Also, after paying his bonus, if he walked away the Canucks would be on the hook for $7m recapture. Trading him is your only option, what are you willing to give up? A 1st? One of your only 2 good prospects? Maybe the cost is less, but I doubt it. I think he’s in the books for two more seasons.

Let me ask you a simple question and I’ll provide all of the information you need as I doubt you can research on your own. Do you think Loui will ride the buss in Utica the next two years? After his bonus is paid in the summer his salary will be $1MM followed by $3MM in the last year. He will have been paid $32 out of $36mill. Simple question.
