Yeah I don't think Kaut and Timmins are special prospects. Timmins especially, with his concussion history. Newhook is real good, but I think there's still a decent amount of risk with him. - eichiefs9
Kaut has some history as well if I remember correctly. Something with his heart? There's always some risk with prospects of Newhook's caliber because he isn't a "can't miss" prospect. He did have an incredible year last year in the BCHL, granted that isn't the best competition, and is having a really solid rookie campaign with BC. There's some risk there, but I think he's going to be a good NHL player.

Not sure about Kaut, entirely possible but I really don't know. Newhook is on an absolute tear right now at BC, but I think he got off to a slow start.
Avs will figure it out (not implying you said that they won't...to be clear). They have lots of movable pieces and they can even afford to move Byram if the right young player becomes available. Gotta wonder if they and/or Hawks don't look to work out some sort of Byram-for-Strome deal.

Oh for sure, they will absolutely figure it out and that was my point. I'm very happy with where the rangers are as an organization right now but if there's any team that I'm jealous of its Colorado. Also agreed that Byram could be moved, but like you said it'd be for a younger player with term, rather than a pending UFA.
Plenty of time left. Rangers aren’t gonna lose many games - Slimtj100
Just pisses me off. When the 2nd period ended tied I knew nothing would happen in the 3rd. I really wish the NHL would change the point system and reward teams for winning in regulation and not in 3 on 3 gimmicks and shootouts

AV getting it done in Philly. He’s a terrific coach still. Him and torts both really
Also. These are the kind of things rangers can’t control and will ultimately decide Kreiders fate. I think if they lose Friday, he’s traded ...if they win ummm he’s ummm idk lol I do think they’ll re-sign him. They really could use a stern signal that the rebuild is over. This team is ready to explode, with Kreider tho
Give him 6x6.5 with full no move, and let’s rock n roll

I think it is a bit strange. If the Rangers were serious about trading Kreider right now I feel like he should be sitting, you can't risk an asset like him this close to the deadline

I think this weekend determines his fate, likely Friday. Win and I think they push for a deal before Monday, lose and I think they take the best offer they have.

I think more people will get on board the playoff train if they win this one. Clearly a monstrous game and we’ll see what this team is made of. If they do, I don’t think you can let Kreider go

We’d be only 4 points out of a playoff spot if we win in regulation tomorrow. I said it a month or so ago, this team is a playoff team next year, biggest difference is starting Igor over Hank from game 1. If Igor was here to start the year I’d say he easily could’ve gotten us an additional 8-12 points.

Post article about the expansion draft. Kakko Lindgren Shesty Fox all exempt. Will be able to protect Georgie with the signing of Berube. They suggest exposing Skjei and Howden, don’t think either would be a huge loss.

there's so much more to it than this article, this was lazy writing by Brett
the goalie requirement is worded as follows:
"One goalie who is under contract in 2021-22 or will be a restricted free agent at the end of his current contract immediately prior to 2021-22. If a team elects to make a restricted free agent goalie available to meet this requirement, that goalie must have received his qualifying offer prior to the submission of the team's protected list"
Berube isn't even under contract for 2020-21 at this point

Every team is going to lose ONE player in the expansion draft. I don't see this as a big threat. Seattle may botch the pick too like Vegas did when they took Lindberg. Its still over a year away ( and another trading deadline too! ). I don't think we should worry about it too much at this point.

I think that they need to consider it when it comes to these deadline moves, but it's certainly impossible to figure out their overall strategy right now
I am a big proponent of the just lose one player and move on theory
dead set against adding an asset to get Seattle to take a certain player or avoid a player

I'm not sure Vegas botched that pick as much as we got lucky. Somebody in our front office will have to look at who other teams are exposing and make a plan for that. Don't forget, Seattle has to take so many people from every position. That's important because if there are a bunch of good wingers that are exposed for example, maybe you could expose Gautier or someone else and get away with it because they would be forced to pick someone else.
