I think a team implementing the strategy I wish the Flyers were using, hate to say it, is Pitt. They lose Guentzel, weather the storm a bit, and then go out and get 28 year old Zucker. He has 3 more years on his deal after this at 5.5 per, plays top 6 minutes, can pot goals, good skater.
They give up a a digressing Galchenyuk (Ghost comparable?), first round pick (prob late), and a prospect. I don't think that's breaking the bank. - Bryz's Buyout Fund
Pens are a more advanced team than the Flyers although they have some key injuries. The timing is right for them to make those kinds of moves.

But if a doctor says he is healthy enough to play then that means the risk of him having issues again are the same as anyone else on the roster. When a doctor tells you that you are cleared to play it means the chances of occurrence is 0%. It is like a broken leg, a doctor clears you to play when the leg is healed. There is no risk of playing causing any further damage, you can always break your leg again but that wouldnt be because you came back early, it would be a new occurrence. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
I don't think that is correct. I doubt any Doctor can give the prognosis of 0%. Same as a knee injury. When given clearance play again, the chance of re-injury or aggravation is always there. Look at Gostisbehere.

you're totally right, let's never go for it. let's keep building. and when we feel like we have the right group let's play it safe and continue to build. If we have some stars in their prime lets not support them with any free agency pick ups. you don't want to mortgage the future. Because the future is drafting and developing. we don't wanna make any cup runs that could hurt our chances of making any future cup runs. i'm sick of everyone wanting to "win it all" when really the plan should be draft, develop, over-develop and be in constant build mode so that we are swimming in a perpetual pool of prospects for the foreseeable future. - black_francis
Your insinuation of my overall opinion is woefully incorrect.

They’ve got Sid and Malkin, plus good goaltending. Gotta go for it. |

Define "advanced"? lol They obviously weren't advanced enough given that they had to make a trade in the first place.
We lost lindblom, and Patrick. A top 6 role is open and vacant.
Also define reasonable high level in regards to Patrick and potential play/output?
I think what you don't understand, and what bill was alluding to in his devils advocate post, is that once you're in, you're in, and not you, not me, or anyone can predict the outcome of playoff hockey. |

Sid allows them to attract talent and his leadership helps new players assimilate and assume they should win |

Advanced means better. TB made a trade also. Every team that feels it is in contention is looking to make a deal to bolster their lineup. That is another poorly though out comment that you've made.
Yea, I don't understand the old mantra of once you get in, anything can happen.

Crosby and Malkin are generational talents. So that doesn’t really hold water. |

Perfect shot but you have to hope that Elliot stops that. |

What is with Elliott and the first shot? That was absolutely brutal. This should have been Hart. |

Sure, but you're assessment of who is better is ehh to me. also, still a few days til the deadline so might be speaking a little soon
Sure sid, and geno are generational but they're beatable. like bill even said, we'd be underdogs but not by much.

Great start in net. - Feanor
Exactly what I stated earlier play the hot hand, there is no need to start Elliott in this game, it was not a back to back
|
|
|

Yeah that was a pretty bad one to let in. |

On paper in black and white, yes, Pitt probably the better team. But hockey isn't played on paper ahaha |
