The boys tonight will be flying! From the opening puck drop to the final whistle. All hustle. It’s gonna be a treat, and you can all suck it!

But enough about the Pens...

back in O'dogs day they would be having a face punching contest to toughen up and pushing each other into garbage cans
- senstroll

My cousin played pro (not nhl), he said one (of the many things) he had to do as a rookie... They threw a rope through the rafters, tied one end to a bucket and the other end to his Richard. He had to stand out there wearing nothing but his skates while everyone flicked pucks into the bucket. Tap out before the bucket was full and you were in for it...

So I believe the methods were a little different back then yup...

I think O Dog had a good point yesterday on overdrive. He said something to the effect of “The Leafs just got dummied by Pittsburg and today at practice they are listening to Lady Gaga and working on SKILLs... what the hell is going on!”

They should of listened to ACDC to toughen them up and bag skated them so they could be worn out for tonight's game.
- Santo_44

the bag skate idea is a bad idea - always has been - particularly if you are playing the next day.

the "threat of a bag skate" is not however NOT a bad idea.

the Leaf practices - from what I've heard and read - are fairly short, and supposed to be intense - 20-25 minutes.

I don't think that there is anything wrong with the coach "changing things up a bit"... mainly from a mental perspective. Guys gather on the ice, "boys ... take a few laps, at high speed - I'll tell you when to stop"...

doesn't have to be crazy long, maybe 5-6 minutes, but the coach leaves the ice after sending them on their way.

returns 5-6 minutes later, with a coffee in hand, watches for a moment or two - then simply resume practice normally - say nothing.

its called ph_cking with their heads.

there's certainly some good "newer" stuff... but I simply have a hard time with augmented voices overlaid on synth recordings.

prefer real musicians, real voices - even when they age and degrade.

I do genuinely enjoy some rap, not the I can swear more than you garbage... but the poetic stuff...

the majority of what I hear when I randomly flip through the radio/web stations ... just not appealing... regurgitated junk...

I'd be curious to know where your cousin played... 'cause some of the stuff the Euros did was completely nuts... short experience there - two seasons in second division...

They used to do something called 'buckets' when I was a kid (teenager). All the players would stand around the centre ice circle and choose two guys to fight. Then maybe two more.

We did drills where the coach threw the puck behind he net and one guy would sprint from the blue line down each side and have a collision behind the net.

We had a drill where you stood there and let guys shoot pucks at you to get used to the feeling of blocking shots. If you pulled a flamingo you did pushups.

Yeah that is the feel I get from them too.

Oh well Manson sucks anyways

- Santo_44

Well yes, when you look at his defensive play, positioning, shot, and then factoring in that he will not be playing for the Leafs, I too agree that he sucks.
