I was thinking the same thing. Often these days when they get a lead they just stop skating and turtle while hoping their goalie bails them out. I'm going to be pissed if they do that. Keep doing what got you ahead 3-0.

We see other teams do it and they know how to walk the line, even if it means crossing it occasionally.

It boils down the the types of players the Leafs have and the types of players they lack. They have one or two but they really need a couple more.

That is the problem.

The refs have always made calls considering factors like reputation, score of the game etc.

They even get praised for preserving the "flow" of the game when they let stuff go.

Oh hell yeah, Johnsson has a good motor, but that's about it. He's not heavy, he's not a great shooter or passer either. Kapanen is inconsistent and is having a down year, but he plays PK and has speed for days.
