I know. I'm just saying, the way they're pushing the game these days, they're telling players they can't police themselves. But if they can't, it's up to the refs to do so. Unfortunately, the refs are bad at it and wildly inconsistent.

UG actually has the right of it. The way things are now, you have to have dirty, smart players that just walk the line, since you can't count on the refs to do their (frank)ing jobs properly.

That's why I was asking Clifford to go sit on the Pens goalie after Hornquist ran into Andersen, because I knew the refs sure wouldn't punish the Pens for it...

He's been ok. Took a dumb penalty, but he's got decent vision, can make plays, feisty for a little guy. Basically a slightly more skilled, slightly less physical Moore replacement that can probably bounce up and down the lineup.

This is the way they can play - but they have to remember that it's never going to be a cakewalk anymore. Everyone is bringing their 'A' game now. Even the tanking teams have players who are playing for next year. No one is coasting. I hope they keep it up, because they have never shown an ability to play consistently at this level.
