freddy's fault guys have the time and space to have a beer before they rip one past his ear.
- Tumbleweed

Being fair, I am not completely absolving Freddy. He has not been himself. Aside from allowing a few goals that he should have, he has also allowed goals on difficult shots that he normally does save. At least a higher percentage of those than we've seen.

Bearing in mind that the quality of a chance is a fairly ambiguous element, it's still relatively comparable.

In January amongst goalies with more than 220 minutes played, Andersen was 25th out of 35 for High Danger Save Percentage. He was 33rd out of 35 on Medium Danger SV%. He was 26th on Low Danger Sv%.

In February thus far, out of 30 qualified @ 220 minutes, he is 29th in HDSv%, 3rd in MDSv% and 1st in LDSv%.

So January was a f'n nightmare for him, but him in February he is doing his job. If the Leafs can contain the High Danger shots - and particularly the quality of them - like they did yesterday, he'll be the Guy again.

Crazy what happens when the leafs actually try to defend and take care of their own end and freddy has a good night.
- Fakepartofme

If they ever figure it out, they'll be a great team.

The Leafs are great with the puck, but not so good without the puck

Draisaitl > Matthews.....agree? Trying to solve a debate, I’m saying even common sense Leaf fans wouldn’t deny that.
- LeftCoaster

You aren’t trying to solve a debate.

You are merely trolling.

Sure but think about the heavy price the Leafs paid to get him.

It will cripple the franchise for years to come.

No need to get all riled up.

I honestly thought you liked Marchment and didn't like the trade.

Must have mistaken you with someone else.... it's hard to follow with all the alts around here.

- LeftCoaster

You area aware once the advantage Draisaitl had went away Matthews is much better, right?

Matthews has been THE most underused star in the NHl until Keefe arrived.

Sorry to hurt your opinion with facts.

I’d say they’re on pretty even trajectory right now, Marner had 69 points his second year which is where you’ll probably see Pettersson in his second year. I don’t know if I could choose which one is better but they’re both great players.
- LeftCoaster

Marner also sopent some time as a bottom 6 forward in that season with 69 points.

Leaf players were at a massive disadvantage. Check out their usage under Babcock.

They're doing NOTHING though.

I get people think Freddy saves the Leafs every win and carries them. No statistical evidence backs this up. The Leafs great offensive firepower pads his win totals despite bad save %

- RogerRoeper

Freddy is not having a great year- agreed.
But it's a team game, and the skaters have not done much to help.
Leafs give up a lot high scoring chances, not just shots.

Look at Bruins.
Is Rask the best G in the game today?
Is Bruins D-corps so great they make Rask look like the best G in league?
Do Bruins forwards smother all opponents attempts to score?
It's not ONE of the above - it's a combination of a bit of the 3 points above.

If Leafs D get healthy and the forwards back-check the GAA will go down.
Look at last night? Who was in net?
