we're guaranteed one in the 1st round.
if we advance, one favorite doesn't win in the first round
not likely that all 4 WC's win again.
but i'm sure you'll change your view in 2 months and will be here whining about playoff match-ups. - Tumbleweed
Parity in the NHL is insane.
If you pick any one team to win the cup you are likely to be disappointed. |

He didnt say he knew or claimed it to be fact unlike some people who do......all the time.
He just said there was a good chance. - Fakepartofme
Isn't it funny how I am always ahead of the curve? I was crapping on Freddy for awhile then everyone joined in. |

I look at two teams in the NHL.
Chicago and Winnipeg.
Those two teams are 30 and 31 for HDSC against. And 3rd isn't close.....
Lehner .918
Hellybuck .919
There is not much excuse for Freddy's poor play. - Santo_44
There is.
A garbage team defense who didnt care about their own end in front of him and he wasnt playing well.

hellybuck and lehner have bad games too.
but overall, they seem to both be better goalies.
helly gets $6.1M vs. $5M for freddy and lehner is probably due for a raise. - Tumbleweed
I am just pointing out to people who say Freddy's numbers would be much higher and he would play much better if the Leafs didn't give as much.
Minny, Florida and Toronto have had abysmal goal-tending this year.
Minny's has been by far the worst.

Over the past 84 games now Freddy has been a below average goalie...It's more than just some cold stretch. He has a .908 save % the past 84 freaking games...
Stop making excuses. He's average at very best. |

Not sure why you compulsively continue to make stuff up.

One day, they will figure out how to play without the puck consistently - PatC80
It’s been a month of the Leafs allowing guys to walk In on our goalies, but yet some think we have a goalie issue.

Sure. That's the playoffs, though. If THIS year's team can consistently do what they did yesterday (I have no idea; I have little faith those habits can be instilled and maintained so quickly), then they can probably stand toe-to-toe with any of them.
What they did yesterday is the new "grit". It's playing hard and winning battles. They're capable of it, but they don't like to do it. That's possibly the difference - Boston, Washington, and Pittsburgh have guys that actually LIKE to do it. - Monkeypunk
I agree with 99% of what you have said, the only thing I don't is the LIKE aspect. I don't think anyone LIKES to do it, they all realize it's a necessity to do it to win and the all Like - actually LOVE to win things like the Stanley Cup so they do what needs to be done.
Leafs need to get to that place.....where you do what's right because it's the right thing to do even when it's harder or less fun. |

It is the goalies fault. Watch other teams...
This happens in Tampa games all the time and their goalie is freaking lights-out right now.

Well not quite.
November he was .938. 11 game avg
On the road hes .914
When he records a win hes .936
But really bad in losses. .851
No one is making excuses, he hasnt been good in 2020.
But quit putting the blame solely on him. |

dubnyk is (frank)ing awful.
but boudreau had him sheltered. minny was collecting every fat rebound he let out to save his ass.
leafs have a positive goal differential. they're game is built on offense. i'm more concerned about outscoring the other team vs. freddy's save %. |

Actually this post is funny, there aren't many on here that share your views. Freddie has not been very good this year as the stats from November on indicate. That said he was outstanding yesterday - as was the team in front of him. He was full value for the shut out despite two obvious dirty uncalled head shots by Malkin and Hornqvist.

Let's be honest, when Freddy is "Hot" he's an elite star. The issue is his "Cold streaks", are longer than almost every goalie and he can be brutal for 4-6 straight weeks. Every October he stinks. Every January he stinks. He's a very up and down goalie.
There isa nothing he has done to prove he's with Vezina candidate the media hypes him as |
