Those stats are fine if you don’t get to watch your own team play, not needed if your Keefe/Dubas..they get to watch the tape and I’m sure they can figure out if the goalie just sucked or he was beat by a good shot / play - poor d etc etc

I don’t care about the rest of the league

JMO of course.

So many of those spreadsheet surfers try to quantify things that require context. If hockey were played by robots and every play was exactly the same, those numbers would hold more weight. But so many different things can happen at any given moment, you really have to see what's happening to give those numbers context.

Even if we took those numbers to be the truth, the fact that the Leafs are "average" defensively, is still a knock against a team that wants to be a contender. You'd think teams like St. Louis would be at the very top of the list.

but Stetcher is not a 6th D-man..

Quinn Hughes rapid development took over some of his ice time, but last year Stetcher played close to 20 minutes a night. That's not a bottom pairing guy minutes

- PatC80

Oh but he is this year.

Where was Vancouver last year? Where are they this year?

Please, enough with Vancouver leftovers and garbage. That guy is not the answer for the Leafs just the same way Ceci wasn't the answer.

Is it fair to say, you haven't watch Stetcher play?
- PatC80

I don't know. Stetcher's marginally better than someone like Tim Heed, I guess?

If you have Ceci on the 5/6 pairing - sheltered from better competition, he is probably a better option than Stetcher. Most of Ceci's numbers this year look worse when you don't remove his earlier context in a top-2 or top-4 role. When he played as a 5/6 guy, he'd been decently effective.

Now, Stetcher would be preferrable to Marincin. But I don't think he's flippable. If you move Barrie, you want to get a pick and a prospect that you can use as capital with a Dermott, a Bracco, a Liljegren if necessary . . . to try and get the Magical Unicorn.

Sidenote...bogosians contract was terminated? Would he be a decent short term acquisition? I haven't watched him in years.

His contract was terminated because Buffalo demoted him.

Read into that how you want I guess? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I would prefer a magical unicorn to Stetcher as well.. Stetcher losing ice time to Quinn Hughes is not a knock on him, it's a credit to Quinn Hughes.

I think Stetcher could be a good addition to the Leafs, but, he is not someone I would pair with Morgan Rielly

Oh but but but Ceci played top minutes and killed penalties and he could come in and fit in nicely with the Leafs on the right side...ERRRR....WRONG. Worse than Zaitsev. Luckily his contract isn't.

Vancouver looks at Chris Tanev and they look at Stetcher and they play Tanev more. That's a damning bad sign.

Small, playing 6th D minutes in Vancouver = Pass.

(frank) no.

Can't even get a roster spot in Buffalo? Done.

When you made that comment, I looked at Stetcher's underlying numbers (I've seen Vancouver a few times this year, but he just doesn't stand out, so I can't really . . . place him in my mind) from last year, and you're right. They are probably decent. He was playing a 3/4 role, and he wasn't getting caved in doing it.

Get rid of Tavares and Nylander. This would fetch a lot more than a couple of good d-men. Who'd wanna take on Tavares's salary though....vastly overpaid.

Holland on Puljujarvi: "Nobody's really asked".

Dubas should ask. That's a decent piece to get for Barrie to either develop on a cheap ELC (makes it way easier to trade Kerfoot / Johnsson) or to use as part of a package in the future. Rebuild his value with a season playing RW beside Tavares.
