Right. Team wants muscle but they send Bailey to Utica and Zac Mac sits but Eriksson has 4 hits since he became a Canuck and he is in the top 6. - manvanfan
I actually thought you might be serious about this so I had to look it up.
28 hits in 237 games for Van
2 years prior to joining the Canucks he had 29 in a single season for Boston

It is getting beyond ridiculous. Would rather even have Sutter on the second line and LE on the fourth if he HAS to play
It’s unreal - even with multiple examples that it’s happening around the league - these jaded fawks just wont accept that that it could happen. - Brooks_Light
Yup, I mean, that one moron (belcher) even has a decapitated donkey as his avatar because he is wrong so often. Like WTF 🤷♂️
Shane Wright has 60 points in 50 games as a 16 year old in the OHL this season.
Can Van start collecting 2022 first round picks now.
Byfield had 61 in 64 games last season as reference. - manvanfan
I met that kid last summer - my buddy told me, keep an eye on this guy he’s gonna be dynamite.
34 goals in 50 games on a terrible Kingston team and he just turned 16 a month ago - unreal

He reminds me of Tavares but the ability to skate.
As long as it is allowable under the current CBA we can't be penalized. It could become something that gets changed in the next CBA. - Retinalz
Luongo's contract was legal at the time it was signed, but Cap Recapture was invented by Bettman after the fact. They did this to punish teams that were getting cap relief from a tactic that hadn't been anticipated when the CBA in effect at the time was drawn up. These types of contracts were long so they were all still in effect when the new CBA started.
It's possible to early terminate Ericksson's contract and similar ones signed under the current CBA because they are not as long and not as much cap circumvention is possible. If there was something wrong with how his contract was structured he wouldn't be playing so, unfortunately, it's legal.
More fortunately Ericksson's contract will terminate when the current CBA also terminates so highly unlikely that the league could punish the Canucks retroactively for it if he and the team were to mutually terminate his contract after he collects his signing bonus this year.
We covered this yesterday/ old CBA. Nothing wrong with how loui’s contracted was structured. Other than the fact it’s a horrific contract - CanuckDon
I didn't say it was structured wrong, I said if a team mutually terminated a contract after paying a bonus, I believe the league would consider it circumvention.
The rules around circumvention are very generic and leave the league a lot of room to apply penalties if they feel it is occurring.

Show me an example..... of course it could happen, just like Luongo could of stayed on LTIR or decided to mutually void his contract or the league could of decided that they didn't want to punish retroactively.

Maybe they will send him down after the TDL after they can't offload him...
